More rule changes. . .

wow some of these are making an already complicated sport a little absurd. How are players going and refs going to keep all these straight. The biggest one will be the new TIME penalty. 10 secs off clock in late game situations. . . :whistle: That'll be huge and in my opinion won't last all it'll take is that penalty deciding a CCG or BCS bowl and it's out the window. Bad idea.



The TD nullifying one is also going to cause a lot of problems. Unsportsmanlike conduct ie. celebrating BEFORE crossing the goal line will cancel a TD.

This celebration touchdown rule is not as bad as I thought. It is limited to when celebrating before they are in. That is not as bad as td gets taken away for any celebration.

I don't like how the time penalty is added to a yardage penalty. I think one or the other choice of opposing coach would be better. Both just makes the penalty too devastating.

I like the no celebrating rule before entering the endzone. Hopefully we'll see less of the cocky strides, the slow down to a ganter displays or the runs along the endzone before stepping in. Don't really see any of this at BYU, but it's certainly prevalent at other schools and is dumb.

WR's all just started going to the school of "how to draw a penalty".



also, don't some people run the length of the end zone because they're trying to take a few seconds off the clock? Isn't there a legitimate game reason not to run right in? i.e. if there's less than a minute left on the clock, team with the ball is down by 6 on opponents 30. Break away rush TD but instead of stepping in, he runs it the length of the field until a defender can get near him taking another 5-10 seconds off the clock. This is crucial time for an explosive offense to get within FG range and has nothing to do with taunting.

The 10 second run off was needed. Why would a QB wait for his players to get set if there was less than 10 seconds to go and he is trying to spike the ball if he didn't get a time penalty? A bowl game was decided by this happening this year.



I seem to remember that we had a TD taken away from us during the Crowton years for "taunting" prior to entering the end zone. I remember that Reno Mahe was running next to another BYU player who was carrying the ball and they had a wide open path to the end zone. Mahe put his finger in the air (not his middle finger) as they were running down the field and he was flagged for it. Does anyone else remember that one?

Instead of putting more time and effort into making/changing/adding rules. They should put more effort into some of these schools having/letting their players get paid to play.

Agreed--I'm completely fine with the 10-second run-off. The NFL's been using it for years and we've yet to see a Super Bowl decided because of it.

I like that they have to make sure any replay videos are available to both coaches if they are going to be shown. I remember when we played at UCLA last time. If there was a questionable play where UCLA could benefit from a replay, then it was put on the stadium video screen right away. If it could have been in BYU's favor, the play was shown and then frozen, right before the key part of the play. Very annoying and showed terrible sportsmanship from UCLA.
