Does anyone know why Fanaika hasn't been offered?



Also, is there somewhere to move topics in this forum. I was thinking we need a subforum for players that were recruited by BYU but ended up at UNLV or Wisconsin so I don't think there is news related to a player actually coming to BYU.

Who cares about players who were recruited by BYU but don't end up here? We have plenty of teams and players to worry/talk about without those who aren't a part of our program.

BTW Fanaika just got offered by Stanford and says he wants an offer from BYU. Anyone know what the holdup is?

I hadn't heard that about Fanaika, just about Jared Afalava.

Maybe I got confused, then it doesn't make sense. Good kid, highly ranked and he likes BYU. Give him an offer.

See DNews article. No offer yet, but has solid academics (3.9 GPA, 23 ACT) and plans to serve a mission. Said he wants a BYU offer. Has 7 in his hands now, USU, plus 6 PAC-12 schools. Would be a really good get for BYU. I suspect they offer after Junior Day, which he will attend, if they offer at all.

He was offered at Jr day. Here's what he has to say:



“I love BYU,” he said. “I’ve always loved their program, and I was so excited to get offered by them. Everyone was pushing me to commit, and I thought about it, I really did, but I then decided it was best to take all my visits, go on my trips and all that.”



While he previously aimed to decide on where to commit before the season, he now aims to take all five of his official trips before making his final decision.



“It’s a huge decision for me,” he said. “I don’t really have a favorite or even a top three or anything like that yet. I’ll decide on a top three or a top five here soon and then take official visits to all the top schools that I’m considering. I definitely want to go to UCLA for one of those visits, but I can’t tell you yet what other schools I’ll take officials to yet.”

If he goes anywhere other than Stanford, USC or BYU he's nuts.

Offensive guard Brandon Fanaika of Pleasant Grove High (Utah) orally committed to Stanford over Utah, BYU and Auburn. The 6-foot-3, 320-pound Fanaika is a three-star (out of five) football recruit. But he'll go on his Mormon mission immediately after high school.



The lure of the Pac-10 was too much for him. Too bad, he would have been a great addition to the OL.

the story might not be over with him I think. I think Stanford may have hit its football peak and once Luck is gone, we can hope for a change of heart.



He's got a few years before he plays football again and let's just say that Taysom Hill has paved the way.

I was hoping that too. Hard to pass up what Stanford offers the 95% of athletes who don't go pro though.
