State of the Offense Post-Spring

Two good articles today on the state of the O after Spring ball:

I have to say I am feeling better about the O right now than the defense, which is saying something--we have the raw talent on O next season to overcome some of the gaffes and growing pains of the new offense. D isn't quite there with the raw talent, but with Bronco at the helm things are looking rosy. This next season could be something for TJ to rap about.

I know you're talking about the offense, but Bronco gets thee most out of his guys, whoever he's coaching.



Last year, our special teams started off unfrickin believable, until he took over the D.



I fully expect our defense to out shine our offense, special teams, etc... With who we have on D and the talent. We will see a defense that we've never seen before.

I don't think the "tweaking" or "old school" or any of those names is of any significance. What is significant is Heaps is going to be as good a QB as we've ever had, the OL is maybe the best ever, our wide receivers could also be the best ever. So offensively, BYU has more talent, a better OL, and some very capable running backs. The big question is will the tight ends come to play and be productive. If the TEs come through in the fall, BYU will be as good offensively as they have ever been, and I predict we will in the top 5 in the country in scoring, passing, total yards, etc.



And I'm believing Bronco, that his defense is going to be "pretty good" and that nobody is going to beat us by picking on our secondary, or by running the ball, or by outplaying our linebackers--we are going to be difficult to run, pass, and score against.



If our special teams (and I think it's an if until they prove otherwise) can come to play, and we can get some kickoff and punt returns and some scores, and the kicking game is reliable, then BYU will have the complete team, and people will notice, and BYU will start the year 3-0.
