Another Guard/Forward?

This guy sounds interesting. Probably better than Zylstra (no offense to Zylstra) and seems to have a bit more meat on him than Rogers. Hope he's more of an inside guy than an outside shooter (we have those).

We could definitely use another low post presence at the 4

BYU's low post guys next year:

Noah Hartsock

Chris Collinsworth

James Anderson

Ian Harward

Nate Austin

Brandon Davies

Stephen Rogers (can play some 4 in a pinch too)



That's possibly six or seven guys to man two positions. You're only allowed so many scholarship players.

1. He's a 2/3 with great length and height for those spots



2. He can shoot and put it on the floor



3. He has 3 years to play 2, but I doubt he'll redshirt; regardless he fits in nicely with the departures of Abouo and Hartsock and will be done playing before we get KC back



4. We don't have an available scholarship right now unless:

a. Zylstra or Martineau or Winder lose theirs... I would assume that Zylstra has been told, "you got 2 years for free but now we need a guy capable of playing regular minutes..." he's just not that guy

b. Davies is suspended for next year



5. He comes from a JUCO powerhouse school and was a stud scorer and defender



6. He comes from a hoops hotbed (Memphis)



7. He was almost as thin as Stephen Rogers in high school but has actually worked to have a solid basketball body



8. We could afford to redshirt Haws when he gets back from his mission

I wonder has athletic he is. Will he really be able to defend 2's?

In a zone, absolutely... out of it, it'll depend on the match up. Abouo will handle a lot of the D on the 2s next year (rightfully so) and a year later that will be Winder/Harrisons job.



This guy just gives us a lot of options, He's a stronger more athletic JT, that can play and defend the 3,4 and the 2 in a pinch or in the zone.

With KC gone, he ought to come in handy next season. KC was a beast on the boards towards the end of the season and we'll need someone to grab boards, especially if Abouo will be picking up the 2 on defense. Sounds like this guy can also score, which KC struggled with.

So where is the news/link that Brereton is going to Hawaii??

1. Has 0 post game offensively at the collegiate level.

2. Season ending surgery last year. Hopefully he comes back well from it. Hopefully we don't have to count on hopefully.

3. Isn't on the team anymore

4. Good chance he won't be up to game speed (back from a mission, see CColl this year.)

5. See #4

6. Might not be on the team next year, at least probably not for a good portion of the season.

7. Too skinny as a true 4, and makes a perfect 3 at current weight and size and abilities.

I don't have time and I'm not paid to figure it out. ;)



Post play is going to be a very big deal that BYU must address this offseason. Players are going to have to really step up.



CC is going to have to come back strong.



Harward and Austin better be ready, becuase if Davies isn't available until later or next year, they're going to have to play immediately.



Noah is also going to have to adapt his game as well. He is going to have forgo a few more outside shots for more looks down low.
