QBs, OLine, WR, IR, RBs, DLine, LBs, Secondary, and Special Teams. There is no special teams or QB representatives on the council.

In the past the kickers/punters have voted for one of their own a representative on the leadership council as well. The press release read "The four captains also represent their positions on the team’s leadership council. Members of the team selected the following additional players from each position to serve on the team’s leadership council: senior Terence Brown (offensive line), senior Matt Edwards (tight ends), seniors McKay Jacobson and Spencer Hafoka (receivers), juniors Romney Fuga and Eathyn Manumaleuna (defensive line) and junior Brandon Ogletree (inside linebackers). "

I know the leadership council isn't a huge deal--they help set team goals, serve as vice-captains in practice, help with Thursday heroes and service stuff etc. Last year the team was so lost midseason as far as leadership goes that Bronco basically shelved the council and took over a lot of the decision-making he used to delegate to them.



Their biggest football role was in Summer workouts--according to Richins the leadership council members were responsible for setting depth-charts etc. during summer workouts when the coaches aren't around. As you have pointed out, the need for a QB on the leadership council sharply diminishes when you have a clear-cut starter like Heaps, and I think our kicking depth-chart is equally set.



My best guess is that Bronco learned from last season that position-by-position voting might not be the best way to form the council and that voting this season was opened up. If you have three kickers in camp and none of them really have the leadership mold, no sense in forcing one of them onto the team leadership council if they aren't going to be an asset. I was just surprised that the formula for forming the council has apparently changed without any of the beat writers asking "why?"

Why is the starting QB not included. I read the announcment indicating that this was team vote - maybe a team message. I was not surprised to not see Nelson but expected to see Heaps because I have read quotes stating that this is Heaps team this year and the players do seem to be behind Heaps this year.

Okay got me on the leadership council last year. I wasn't around and haven't paid attention in the past. :sulk: The fact that Heaps isn't on the council could have something to do with the fact that he's a Soph.

Does having a Poly as a team captain do anything to "make up" for not having hired a Poly assistant coach?

All seniors. ALl guys who have been around. Sounds like just a seniority council, but really, Bronco is still the man.
