Good news. Sendai Mission Reopening!!!

My FIL will be the Mission President there on July 1. The mission was temporarily closed for obvious reasons. When it reopens it will be small (30-40 missionaries). I can only imagine what the blessings and challenges of his situation will be.

Sorry to be ignorant, but where's Sendai, and for what 'obvious reasons' was it closed?

Sendai is in northern Japan, near the epicenter of the quake.

And Japan had a 7.4 quake today. Not sure how close it was to Sendi.
