This is a big get. Apparently he is really good at scrabbling but also has a strong arm. Looks like someone who could end up being really good.



This is great news.

I believe He put up huge numbers 2 years ago as a freshman playing Varsity but I think he was injured last year. Hopefully he can recruit like Heaps

Sweet. He was the better of the two QBs BYU was pursuing.



I think he only played 3 games last year after a great sophomore year. Not sure about the specifics on the injury.

I think he broke his arm

I have seen this kid play and he is outstanding! He is tall--6' 3" or so--has a VERY strong arm and is very mobile. He is an overall great athlete. He will be a 4 star QB for sure. He had offers from BSU, Oregon, Utah, and Arkansas is what I have heard...This is a great get, trust me....

I think he broke his arm

The local press reported a broken collarbone....

He is the younger brother of Parker Mangum who had been bumped around between QB and WR at BYU. I think Parker was a senior last year. He never really played, but from the people that I know who know the family say the younger brother is a lot more talented.

Mangum plays for Eagle High School, my alma mater. Sweet! I've figured he'd go to BYU for some time now.

I think you mean that he would be a 4 star QB for sure, if he committed to Oregon or Arkansas. As a BYU commit he will be capped at 3 stars or will be ignored by the rating services...

You are probably right. All I know is this, from having watched him play: his arm is as strong as any High Schooler I've seen; his foot speed is way above par, and he's very athletic. he is a really good get

I've seen that too. Perhaps his being injured his junior year and not playing hardly at all affects that? All I know is his arm is stronger than Kellan Moore's, he's faster than Kellan Moore, and BSU has tried to get him for a year already, ultimately to no avail. And BTW, Kellan Moore was a four star....I'm pretty high on the kid. I confess though that I am not a scout or expert in evaluating talent...but my eyes don't lie

Considering that the kid played one full year, andonly a small part of his Jr year, a 3* rating at this point is pretty solid. If he is that good, we will see him at the Nike QB Camp, and his rating will go way up. Regardless, it is about on field performance, not star ratings.

I am no expert either but you can tell he has some mechanics to work on.



If this kid is supposed to be the future at quarterback for byu, he needs to take a play out of jake heaps' playbook and be on the phone with biegel and hines. get them all to sign on same day and get some momentum on the recruiting front just like jake did.

I agree but the guys he (and every other QB in the country) should be calling are Jordan Simmons, the 5* OT BYU is recruiting and Davonte' Neal the 4* WR.

i don't understand why recruits want to wait so long. you would think you were a high profile commit you would want to do it the way jake did. commit early and then use your "celebrity" to get more talent recruited on your team.
