Coach Rose turned down NC State

Turning down Oklahoma was one thing, but turning down an opportunity to coach an ACC team with a strong tradition, loyal fan base, and championship pedigree.... Dave Rose is here for the long haul and its great to have him. Happy to see him get a raise.

Agreed. I suspect there were other offers/interviews and from better universities. Also turned down.

How could he turn down the utes.. I mean.. they are going to the pac 12.. people should be begging to go there/coach there.... :sick:

I am like Coach Rose. Sometimes a job is not totally about the $$, but about the lifestyle it offers. It is worth it to take less for a better overall quality of life. Especially when less is still PLENTY of $$$. PLENTY. If you can not live on $750k in Provo, you got problems.

I'm going to ask the question everyone wants to know but doesn't dare to ask: Does Coach Rose's BYU salary automatically come straight from BYU with the tithing taken out? Does he pay higher tithing on bonuses? Yes, I already know that he didn't get a tithing break of 7% in his contract terms.

Of course he turned down NC State. He's still probably bitter about that whole Phi Slamma Jamma upset for the NC thing.

If it does come with the tithing already taken it out, it is by request from Coach Rose. That's not a BYU mandate. Tithing is still "optional" in the same respect that all commandments are optional. BYU doesn't make you keep the commandments by doing the work for you.

Yeah, BYU couldn't take the tithing out, even if you asked them. That is something that is paid to your ecclesiastical leader.



Are you referring to whether or not he gets paid with tithing money? (Or am I reading too much into the question?) The answer to that, is also no. He gets paid with donations made by boosters to the program, and out of ticket sales, etc if/when that falls short (which it no doubt will not.)

That is what i was thinking :lol: I think it is funny they were so quick to fire boylen sure that they were going to get some awesome coach and make a splash becuase now they are in the pac10.
