Sammy Linebaugh to BYUTV?

It's no secret that I want Sammy Linebaugh to leave the MTN and join-up with BYUTV for the future. She is the one quality journalist on the entire MTN network--Harvard educated, Emmy award winner, and not terrible to look at (Todd Christensen and his blog entries comparing the 2010-11 hoops season to King Solomon and his riches can stay with his peers).



I've noticed lately that she hasn't done anything (that I've noticed) for the MTN since football season ended. What's curiouser, her Facebook profile no longer lists the MTN or the MWC as employers (previous or present).



The kicker is this--she recently added a new photo album: "WCC Road Trip" with photos of her at various WCC basketball events with a media pass. Now, I know the MTN wasn't paying for her to tour the WCC and helping her get those credentials, so my working theory is this: Linebaugh has left the MTN, but a Noncompete/Nondisclosure agreement with the MTN means she can't be on-air for another network for 6 months or so after quitting.



Sammy Linebaugh on BYUTV/ESPN this Fall? I hope so!

Even more interesting is that on either Sammy's Facebook, and LinkedIn pages, there is no mention of The mtn. anywhere. Coincidence? Maybe, but it makes for a compelling story.

I have felt all along that the most logical thing is for BYU to get Wrubell and Marc Lyons to double as the radio and TV crew for games not picked up by ESPN or other networks.

Having Wrubell on the TV would be awesome. I really wanted to listen to him rather than the tv announcers when I was able to watch the game on tube here in Florida, but the delay was just too much to overcome. Sometimes KSL would be a whole minute behind the TV and that is pain.

To answer your question Sno, YES Sammy does in fact work for BYUtv now. I watched a lot of the WCC tournament on BYUtv and Sammy did a little feature on a WCC school during halftime of each game. They were very good.



If you go to BYUtv.org and watch a replay of a WCC game you will be able to see her at halftime.

Sammy is a Utah grad. FYI. But I do not hold that against her. My borther is a Utah grad as well, and comes to every BYU game with his boys, and cheers for BYU since we were kids. Sammy does not wear the Ute taint on her sleeve, and seems more interested in doing her job, which is what matters most.

Like the old joke says, what do a Utah student and a BYU student have in common?
