MarsAlso,
Utah and Wyoming are interested in Rice.
Missouri and Oklahoma are interested in Rose.

I can't see Rose going anywhere. He's been at BYU for 15 years. He's making a pretty penny now and is likely going to get a raise. He's built a program at BYU that primed for greatness. He can win now and win big.
Why would he take another job? Are they really a step up? Is Missouri a better job than BYU? Sure he'd make more money, maybe, but what if he doesn't win right away? Is he looking for a job in two years? What school out there is ready for him to simply step in and take them to the next level?
I don't think there are any. There isn't a job out there that's a step up. They're all sideways steps at best. The ones that could pay him more, can't win right now. There's no incentive to leave.

Let's not forget that you'd have to be leaving a relatively cheap area: Provo. INcreases in salary in new jobs are often accompanied by an increase in cost of living.

What are the benefits of an Oklahoma job, besides a pay increase? Do they finish in the top of their conference? Do they have a ton of talent coming in?

Wasn't BYU 9-20 the year Rose was hired?

Which makes sense for an assistant coach to step up to a big time program as a new head coach.

I'm not trying to play devil's advocate too hard here, but tripling his salary doesn't make sense?
For the record, I think Rose is a lifer at BYU. No Cougar head football or basketball coach has ever left for a BCS school. SteveCleve was a season away from getting fired when he bailed, did the AD a favor, IMO.

You don't get a better shot at a national championship.
You don't have any of your guys in the recruiting pipeline.
The job isn't any more "glamorous" than BYU's.
Basketball isn't the fifth priority

Still, I take the BYU job with its current trajectory and recent success over the OU job.
