When does the Mountain West affiliation officially end?

I see that byucougars.com (the official website for BYU athletics) still has large logos and links to the MWC, The Mountain TV channel, and CBS College Sports. When will they go away?

Probably when independence officially starts or after the last MWC competition in any sport has finished.

Not soon enough. I can say this with an official guarantee: I will never see a live/previous event on the Mtn. again.

To me it ended the day BYU announced. At least that's the way it appeared to me and it seems thats the way the refs and other teams have seen it too.

Which brings me back to my call to the NCAA. GET RID OF CONFERENCE REFS!!!!!! They should all be NCAA refs with no affiliation. It makes no sense to do it how it is done because it is relying on people to be impartial against their employer. That does not work. In that type of conflict you can rest assured every small thing and some big things (see the onside ore vs ok) can and most likely will go in a biased favor.

you must be one of those Federal regulators who said that companies couldn't send both Consultants and Auditors to make money off their clients. Conflict of Interest? WHERE?

I believe July 1 is the date of independence.

Really, its geographically based more than anything. If the NCAA took over all officials, the ones that call Pac-10 games are still going to call Pac-10 games because the NCAA isn't going to waste money transporting people across the country to officiate games. Maybe changing who the employer is does something, but the fact that the officials just plain suck isn't going to change.

In football at least, the MWC officials are also officials for the WAC and the Big 12, and probably the same ones that we're going to be using going forward when we have to supply officials. That's a factor that's lost in all of this. BYU is making more money, but now they have to cover more of the overhead as well (officials, production costs, etc.).

So is BYU obligated to play good until then, and we will go the extra mile to be good sports in the whole thing??
