So we tip off vs. Florida from The Big Easy tonight at 5:27pm MT. How is everyone feeling about this match-up? POst your final score prediction, and 3 reason to support it.



BYU 73 Florida 67



1)Jimmer goes for 30, rest of the team shoots well enough to get it done.

2)BYU limits Florida's 2nd chance points and puts a huge emphasis on defensive rebounding.

3)BYU is able to force enough turnovers and poor foul shooting by Florida.



Combined, even though BYU does not play as well as they did vs. Gonzaga, they play well enough to get it done.

Kinda hard focusing on work. Less than eight hours to go. I just need to log off the internet - but I know I won't. Good thing the boss is out of town.

BYU 76 Florida 68



BYU keeps it close, with the lead changing hands many times until 6 minutes to play. A combined 12-2 run by Jimmer and Abouo push the lead which the cougars hold on to, and end the game shooting several free throws.



Jackson Emery has 5 steals.

We are out rebounded by 12.

Hartsock hits 3 threes.

Jimmer ends with 40 points.

we're outscored 40-18 points in the paint but we win this game with FTs.

KC, Abouo, and Jimmer drive drive drive.

Emery can't find his shot again, but makes all his points off FTs, and steal-baskets.

Our defense gets it done. We equal them in rebounds.



Obouo has a big game. Jackson shuts down walker. Jimmer has 32 points.



Florida gets hot from three point land but does not do as well down under as anticipated given their length advantage.

Please just tell me refs aren't from: pac-10, sec, or the worst: mwc.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to rely on my DVR tonight - I sing in a quartet, and we have a gig. I'll just have to initiate a radio/internet/phone blackout until I get home.



I see this as two running, high-scoring teams locked in an unexpectedly defensive battle. 68-60 BYU.

I think for BYU to win, we need jump out to a lead at some put early on. We're not a team that plays well when behind. We get too tight and jack up bad shots and make the situation worse.



So, I say near the end of the first half we go on a little run and are up by at least six at half time. Florida won't let it get out of hand in the second half like Gonzaga did, but we'll be playing loose and shooting well enough that the Gators won't ever be able to overcome their deficit.

1. Florida has the jitters early on & misses those long - quick jumpers.

2. Jimmer plays a smart game - dishes off when he has open teammates & they hit.

3. BYU rebounds surprisingly well - at both ends - limits Florida's 2nd shots.

BYU makes shots then BYU wins.

BYU misses shots then BYU loses.

Florida is from he SEC, BYU from the MWC, so no refs from either league allowed. Best best is a Big East or ACC crew, perhaps Big 12.

We can have individual refs from a conference, just not reffing "crews" from a specific conference.



We'll get an ACC, a big East, and maybe a MWC guy.

And then Gus Johnson's vocal chord shreds into a million pieces. Jimmer steps in for Gus and Wrubell and calls the Wisconsin/Butler game in the first Simulcast in modern NCAA tournament history 8)

Well 36-36. BYU scared me with some big missed opportunities. But Florida has lapses that help us out. I'll take a half time tie, especially when Jimmer had missed the final shot by a milimeter, and they can't hit free throws. Let's get that other half now.

As badly as BYU has played in the first half, they go into halftime with the score tied. If they have a normal performance in the second half, BYU wins easily.

BYU still missing open shots. This game would be over if they hit a normal percentage. All we can hope is that someone steps up and wins this one for us.

Like i have been saying. BYU looks TERRIBLE and has now forced over time. If SOMEONE would step up and hit shots for BYU in this game, BYU wins. Kyle Collinsworth hits 2 free throws instead of 1, BYU is in the elite 8 right now.
