It's so funny to me how wide the gap between opinions is on Jimmer's D; there really is no middle ground. Some say he can't play defense or doesn't want to therefore he won't succeed at the next level. Others laud Coach Rose's defensive scheme that allows a team to, for all intents and purposes, guard 5 players with 4 so that the most offensively explosive player in the country can rest on defense. As for me and my house, we're of the opinion of later and believe that he could play defense if it were required of him.

In the league, he's not going to be a teams main offensive threat (if he is I'll be upset because he'll be on the Timberwolves or worse) and therefore doesn't need to rest on defense. Worst case scenario for him would be to have to be the teams main threat because you CAN'T rest on d in the league and it'll hurt his performance as a huge change in his game. Best circumstance for the Jimmer would be for him to be, at best, the 4th or 5th scoring option for awhile on his team, a come off the bench and light up the second unit type player. Then, he can become a good 3rd to 4th option later on.

He'll be fine in the NBA because, lets be honest, maybe 10-20 guys in the whole league really play defense. He'll find his niche and the scouts who doubt him need to get over the "white/not tall enough" garbage and look at his game.
