Priesthood or Final Four?

I know this is looking ahead and the cougars need to take care of business this week starting with Florida, but has anybody else noticed the Final Four is conference weekend? More specifically, the first Final Four games will be played Saturday night during priesthood session.



If BYU is playing during priesthood, what do you watch?

Actually, a phrase would also help: personal radio silence and info blackout. Pull the three monkey "see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil" except tuning into Priesthood Meeting (not that that's evil, but you know what I mean), keep the radio off in the car on the way home, then right to the boob tube to watch the taped game. :)

The thinking process of my 15 y/o about going to General Conference and how his very old old man responds:



Steven: "But is what THE JIMMER doing the right thing to do? He doesn't have to go to the General Priesthood session. He probably won't even attend or watch any of the live Saturday sessions of General Conference. Does he think he's better than us mere mortals? If he doesn't have to go, than I shouldn't have to go."



Steven attempting to kowtow his old man: "DAD!!!! YOU ARE TAKING AWAY MY FREE AGENCY!!!!! YOU ARE FORCING ME TO DO THINGS I DON'T WANT TO DO!!!!!!"

I will be attending Priesthood session hoping to avoid any contact w/ the game goings on. DVR of course. If I do what the Lord expects me to, then I expect him to bless me (by supporting my team to victory!), of course.



Not to play devils advocate, but priesthood session does happen twice a year, and if you miss it, it will be available in the Ensign (every word). BYU in the final four is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I wouldn't think less of you if you skipped Priesthood session to witness history live.

If I could buy tickets to see BYU play in the final four in Houston, thus guaranteeing they would be there, that would be a great price for my soul.

Final Four.

God's word and will transcend start times. listen to podcasts later as well as read it later in print.

And if byu makes final four, I'm going, if I can get tickets!! Somebody has to cheer for them. You think the athletic department is going to priesthood session? You think Chad Lewis or Santiago or all those player's families are going to priesthood?

Let's hope BYU gets the early game on that saturday and not the prime time, later game. But if not, nobody is going to hell if they miss priesthood. Some of you guys will be sleeping during the dim-lighted sat broadcast anyway; or too worried about the Cougs once in a lifetime/millenia opportunity that you won't be able to concentrate/internalize and you will be asking the guy next to you who can't resist and is following the box score on one of several websites. The church may as well use a scroll on the bottom of the screen (ala sportscenter/espn) with the score. At least then everyone would be watching the screen and staying awake!

Here's a novel concept: since the church is "worldwide", delay start time of priesthood one hour and show that they are not so Salt Lake centric. Many folks around the world watch a recorded version later at a later time bc it occurs in the middle of the night.

You want exposure? Well you got it, " (fine print) ....except of course if its priesthood session." (TIC)

Some of you professed "blue-goggled" fans might need to re-evaluate your fan status or put an asterisk next to your status. I admire your sense of faithfulness, but the way we treat his words are of far more importance than when we hear them. And I've seen the majority of holders have no clue what was talked about in the priesthood session, two or three weeks after it happens.

I shouldn't sound so invested in changing anyone's opinion as merely stating mine. Go Jimmer! Go Monson!

If Hinckley were still Prez, he'd probably have the game on the wide screen cuz that's the kind of fan he is. Monson might do something similar and talk about how great an example the team is with some object lesson that they have the best home teaching stat of any sports team at BYU.



It will be interesting if it does happen.

No special technology, so i'll say priesthood first (since odds aren't good anyways) but if it seriously came down to first and probably last final four appearance, and knowing priesthood is printed anyways...easy choice made for me.

I was hoping for PIP during the session.

I was presented with a similar situation last Saturday. It was the adult session of stake conference the same time as the BYU Gonzaga game. I had made up my mind I was going to go to conference so I did. I missed most of a great game but sports are a very small part of life when all is in perspective. I did it whether it would make a difference in the game or not? Them winning was just a bonus.

DVR, even better, HD-DVR.

Game. They record Priesthood too you know, and it's twice a year. March only comes once a year, and Jimmer, once in a generation. Father forgive me if this is sin 8)
