9/11 vs. Global Warming

Why is this 9/11 issue so much like pulling teeth? Why is it like trying to convince people of global warming? Why do people believe the Commission's story so much despite the slew of evidence that runs contrary to it? The only people I know of that have attempted to discount the mountain of evidence that suggest the three towers fell by controlled demolition is Popular Mechanics, but does noboby notice the conflict of interest inherent in their involvement? Do we just want to believe the official story SO badly that we'll accept ANY info that claims to provide us that opportunity, regardless of the source or their possible motive, or the absolute atrocities to science that are its supposed findings?

I GET the global warming thing, guys. Follow the freaking money. It's THERE. I can't accept a WORD the dang IPCC says. Why? Because if the IPCC said there was no problem with global climate change, then they would cease to be needed and cease to exist. Who is dumb enough to give up a multi-billion dollar gravy train for some simple little matter like the truth? They'd have to be insane. Why is it that everybody NOT associated with the IPCC seems to think otherwise? It's pretty well known that if you, as a scientist, want some major grants or funding for something, all you have to do is claim your research involves climate change and you're golden. So I'm with most of you, I think, on this one.

But WHY the resistance to the obvious conflict of interest involved with those that give us the official story of 9/11?

channeling airwolf I see. The only conspiracy about 9/11 was the one that involved the arab terrorists who flew 4 planes to their doom.

Actually, I have a degree in physics and I worked with Dr Jones when I was at BYU. Also, I still talk with others who have PhDs in physics, mechanical engineering, chemistry, and chemical engineering. Sorry, I stand by my statement: 9/11 was perpetrated by fanatical religious terrorists and no others.

And based on what do you actually think caused those buildings to fall at free fall speed, expressing all the characteristics of a controlled demolition? Can you name me any other steel structured buildings, besides the 3 towers, that have collapsed due to fire?

Unfortunately there is a flaw in human nature, and that is that rather than simply looking at the evidence of something and deriving a logical conclusion to go along with it, if someone can first give us a reason to WANT a particular conclusion to be true, we will actually try to explain away all rational information that contradicts that conclusion, and cling ever so desperately to information, no matter how irrational, that appears in any way to support the conclusion we WISH to be true.

Now, you may try and turn this on it's head and say, "Taekwondave, this is true for you as well. You probably just WANT this three towers theory to be true. Thus you're rational mind has gone out the window."

Good point. But here's where I feel I no longer apply in this case. I voted for Bush both times. It wasn't until the beginning of his 7th year in office that I finally felt comfortable GENUINELY disagreeing with him on something without feeling like I was giving the deciding inch to the liberals and they would now win the next election and take over my world. I finally said, "Now wait a minute. I've read the constitution and I don't know how comfortable I am with this whole Patriot Act thing. I'm pretty sure that if a democrat administration had pushed this through, I would have not been okay with it." Mind you, the act had already been in place several years before I ever even considered questioning it.

When I discovered that the universe didn't explode by my so questioning my fearless leader, I ventured into further questioning, and soon became surprised as to how often I disagreed with him.

What did this mean? Didn't this make me a liberal? I mean, weren't those the only two options? I knew from watching the news that anybody who hated Bush probably loved Al Gore and I sure didn't. I disagreed with Gore even more than Bush. TONS more. I now hated watching Fox News but that didn't mean I felt more comfortable watching CNN or MSNBC. What was going on here?

Well, anyway, I've looked at all the evidence concerning 9/11 and I can only assume that if that bevy of evidence does not persuade you, it is simply because you still live the that left-right dream world I lived in for so long. The liberals don't win if 9/11 was an inside job, fellas. It just means the war going on in the world today isn't between left and right. It's between us and the banks. And if that sounds weird considering this context, you've definitely been watching corporate media too long.

I had this very discussion with airwolf back on the old board. Sorry, I've been through this before and am completely satisfied that there was no other cause than the high temperatures from the jet fuel, the proper height of the top floors, which caused the collapse of both towers and all incidental and collateral damage.

9/11 conspiracy theories and rational arguments against them have played out on in this forum plenty of times in the past. I don't believe we need any more.
