Jake Heaps and this football team are very competitive. Bronco wants them watching the basketball team winning in the post-season for a reason. I think the guys are going to come into this year fired up. They don't want to get shown up as "the other sport" at BYU, they want to be the main attraction!

Could this be the first 1-loss regular season under Coach Mendenhall?

I watched Sports Beat and they had some footage of practice. I'd never seen BYU QBs doing routine passing drills with a coach smacking them right before they threw it with a blocking pad. I think that's a good development and I think the team will benefit from the added competitiveneess of practice.

One thing that is clear is that BYU starts the season with a very tough stretch of games, and mental toughness will be required to get through it. BYU has won like 1 game at an SEC venue, and that was at a poor Miss State. Starting off, need a win. Winning at Texas and home to Utah will also be tough because Texas is Texas and the rivalry game is always a tough one. Get through that stretch 3-0, and we are looking at a top 7 ranking very quickly.

It's a tough stretch but a very doable stretch.

The toughest part is maintaining their edge with that top 7 ranking.
