What a game!

I know there are maybe 5 threads I could have thrown this into, but I wanted to do the egotistical thing and start my own... :lol:



BYU played probably the best game of basketball I have seen them play this year (SDSU included, all things considered missing Davies, etc)



Wow! Jimmer and co. played a phenomenal game. I am on record saying they would lose by 10-14 unless they played their best game this season and they did just that!



I can't say enough good things about the hustle of the players, the great coaching, and what a surprise victory. They beat a very good Zags team, and it wasn't that the Zags played terrible. They played great all except for the first 3 mins of the the second half.



BYU played absolutely lights out. A 32 win season, Sweet Sixteen visit for the first time in the last 30 years, and a chance to go as far as BYU has ever been against the team they beat in the first round last year. (Oh yeah, and the #1 seed got knocked out in their bracket, so if they beat Florida, they are the top seed, playing at worst a "second round matchup," or "possibly a first rounder.")







Disclaimer: I would like to point out that I was content with the season before this game happened, and now this happened, and I feel like I just got desert for free after eating a prime rib (hey, I'm on a diet, gimme a break... :) )

My whole family watched it, @ the Sheraton in SLC, we were at en event, it was soo cool, to see 20-30 people around the TV in the lobby, cheering on BYU, kinda cool to see some of the Employees also saying, hay I am a Ute fan, BUT GO BYU!

At least you're finally ready to admit that I was right, this is a better team than last year, even sans Davies.

Which reminds me - would it not be epic to run into and beat Notre Dame this year on a last second full length 1-man fast break but with Jimmer throwing it back out to his trailer Emery who nails a 3. Notre Dame may be the best team in the BIg East imho. ND or UCONN. Big (L)east clearly over-rated this year.



I know many hate the MWC and the MWC will never be the same without us, but MWC 3 teams in the tournament- one with a crappy seed - and 2 of them make the Sweet 16.

What about last year's team is better than this year's besides our outside shooting?

Gotta agree with Hawkwing on that one. They just proved it yesterday. Sweet 16 without Davies beats getting trounced in game two last year even given the difference in seeding. Gonzaga was hot and had proven it. They killed a 6 seed. If BYU wins one more game they will have proven themselves as good as the 1981 team without Davies. With Davies - this was the best BYU team ever. It still might be wihout him. Jury is still out on that.

I'd argue that 2010 is a better team than 1980. The 2010 team got a better seed in the NCAAs, won more regular season games, won more conference games, won more road games and played in a much better era with better talent and coaching.

I still think that the lineup of Jimmer, Jack, Haws/Abuou, JT, and Miles/Noah/Davies was a better and deeper team than this team last year. Jimmer is picking up the slack this year, plain and simple. He is shooting more, getting to the line more, playing much more minutes, and is in posession of the ball a lot more. Imagine what the Cougs would have done with a 3 seed last year. With the depth and talent they had. I don't think you can say that we have a better "team" with Davies out this year - as we have no depth, and yes, when clicking, we are a very very good team, but games like the other day and against SDSU are the exception, not the norm.



We have better players in Jimmer and Jack, and both have the ability to take control of the game (on offense and defense, respectively).



I really honestly don't care about any of this, as long as we keep winning. ;) I am completely content with this season, come what may.



(Again, you add Davies into the mix in the middle, or maybe even a healthy Ccoll, and I will agree with you, or at least it would be close. Because even though Haws is MUCH better than KC and JT is MUCH better than Abuou, Jimmer is so good offensively this year, and Jackson is a defensive beast that can score too. Minus Davies, we just don't have any depth, and are relying on a stellar game from everyone to beat good teams, logging horrific minutes for our starters, and juggling foul trouble.)

I really think that we are discussing close to the same thing, from different positions.



I miss you BD, and though I am still angry at your situation, we need you manning the middle.



I wonder how close Ccoll is to coming back, or BD is in his "process..."



I wonder if a few weeks left will give us one of them as a "surprise" wildcard.
