Florida's starting guard Boynton sprained his ankle

Boynton played 33 minutes, per ESPN. Did he sprain it late?

Yep, looks like with 4:24 to go. The best case for BYU is for him to be able to practice and think he can play and then find out he can't go. That way Florida can't use the week preparing to be without him.

I expect him to play and play lots.



Modern medicine will see to that.

I saw the injury. I don't think it was too serious by the way he walked off. I think if his team had really needed him he would have gone back in. If it is still painful next week he'll likely get it injected.

I was watching that, but he did come back in right? If he can't play that would be great but I have no doubt he'll be ready for Thursday. I wonder if Emery would take him or Walker...

It is really strange as both teams have almost the same rosters as they had in last year's first round matchup.



We did in double overtime last year. Hmm should be a very good game.

Walker and Boynton usually play together in a small backcourt.

A couple things are different however. We replaced 2 huge defensive liabilities (JT and Haws) with 2 awesome defenders and rebounders (Abouo and KC). That as much as anything else is why we are advancing.

I like our chances. And yes, Boynton's lateral quickness will be more limited, even if he can play. They may do well to bring their 3 or 4 at times, mixing it up.

Florida's only chance against the Cougs is to contest shots and make it difficult for our 4 guards to score. I don't think they can, and having Boynton at less than 100% will only hinder that more. I agree with DM that Florida ought to play as big as they can and challenge us again to win from the outside.

We had a little used guard that provided quite a spark late last season quit the team. Someone should interview Jr. and see what he thinks about his choices - but then he had other problems that may or may not have gotten him suspended eventually anyway. But this is not the same BYU team by any stretch. Haws could usually be counted on to make open shots and Lloyd JUNIOR was an element of surprise.



We do play better defensively this year. Jimmer is not the same Jimmer - he went from great last year to phenominal this year. We will miss Davies. Collinsworth is replacing the rebounding most of the time. He needs to play in control on offense and is inconsistent making shots and free throws. BUt he is a spark and cannot be ignored.



Bottom line - It all comes down to Emery and Hartsock and BIGS foul trouble. If Jackson and Noah are shooting well - everything else seems to click and then Abouo, Rogers, and others seem to step up.



James Anderson was listed on CBS Sports line daily leader board yesterday for blocked shots. They all need to contribute. BYU had 1 or 2 players in the top 5 of every category - except rebounds.

If we play like last night, only 2 teams in the nation scare me, KU and OSU, that is because they could give us a run for our money.



IF we play like last night, we win, if not, who knows.

I wonder if Nancy Kerrigan is jealous of how easy Jimmer breaks ankles.

I think BYUs chances of winning this game are better than G-zags, we have the momentum, the confidence, the desire, Jimmer, and Rose. This will be among Rose's top 2 all-time wins and what puts us finishing in the top 5 at the end of the season. I love it when Noah gets excited, and Jimmer gets determined and will be expecting the same.

Just a reminder, Boynton led Florida in scoring against BYU last year with 27 points. I think their next highest scorer had 14. I also think he's their best 3-point shooter.

Hopefully if he is not out he will be a little off. Jackson can then focus on shutting down someone else, and our chances get better and better.
