Well This Could Be It

So far ALL of the experts have tipped their hats unanimously to the Zags. On paper I would have to agree and it's an unfortunate matchup as there will be teams that we can beat that will be left in the Sweet 16, but that's the way it goes with NCAA matchups at times.



It's obvious that for us to pull a win out of our hat that we have to have at least 3 players other than Jimmer in double digits and we have to keep the rebounds somewhat close. We need a perfect game or else a meltdown by the Zags. Both have happened before.



They were showing last night one of the dejected players from one of the teams that lost and they said, this is the look that will eventually be seen on the faces of all players except for one team. It seems almost unfitting to have to end such a season for the books in a dejected manner still outside of that elusive Sweet 16, but that is the most likely possibility.



I wish we weren't starting our rivalry with Gonzaga in our vulnerable position as it would be so sweet if we still had Davies and Chris Collinsworth. I really would have loved to see us play them with those two and we could really have found out who the better team was. If they are to beat us today it is because we don't have our full compliment and our quiver is not full, but I'm sure St. Johns is saying the same.



Leave us proud today boys. All I ultimatly hope is that we don't end this season like we left our game last Saturday in Vegas having our butts kicked. Yea, I don't have a lot of hope of a win and I just want to save our face and go out with dignity.

The pose of Jimmer on the home page of ESPN reminds me of a statue of a Greek god. Maybe it is our day.

It's going to be a very difficult task to beat Gonzaga today. The Zags will rule the boards & should rule the paint. We can win - but everyone - not just Jimmer - has to be aggressive - shoot high percentage shots & knock them down! We won't get the rebound & a second shot.



I'm going to be with a bunch of non-member dudes @ the London Pub in the L.A. area - cheering the Cougs on. I don't expect a win - but I am keeping my fingers crossed!!!

I give us a 25% chance of winning. They will either kill us inside or outside or both--in which case it will be a long road of repentance when even those who have been optimistically forgiving of BD and supportive of byu's handling of it, will start to sour and people will start to ask "what if" and "why"--bank on it. Its how denial and disappointment and dust settling intersect.

unfortunately, God doesn't care as much about sweet 16s as he does about all the generally positive media we've received from the Brandon Davies saga.



but maybe we can win one for the Gipper.

I was feeling a bit down last night with the possibility of the season ending. However, I woke up with a strange sense of optimism. I really think our guys can pull this off. No way Gonzaga shoots as well as they did the other night. They don't have anyone that can defend Jimmer. Their bigs may get into foul trouble (we'll have to see how the game is officiated). I'm thinking it will be a big night for Abouo. 8)

We missed a lot of close shots vs Wofford (KC and Abouo), so if those fall this time around we certainly can win. Don't forget, the Zags have not been world beaters this season. They don't have any marquee wins and St. John's was not a legit test since they repeatedly proved unable to get wins away from home.

.....And St John's lost their big man........like byu.

BYU is very much a play-with-the-lead team. If we're down 5 or more at half then I'd say we are done.

Well ...... was I wrong!! I love it!! I gave waaay too much credit to Gonzaga's tall trees. I thought their height in the paint would dominate & be a serious factor.
