Thanks, that's a stat report I kind of wanted to see.



Here's to a Wyoming/New Mexico type of game tomorrow. Yesterday's game was about as painful offensively as the MWC championship and our numbers show it. Bad thing was that SDSU's was way above those numbers and that's how we got blown out.



the Zags will be quite a challenge and the way they played last night I am very concerned.

I think its is reasonable to be concerned when you look at those numbers and the matchup Gonzaga provides.



Last night Jimmer made up for his crappy three point shooting with easy drives to the hoop. those won't come tomorrow with their big front court.



To win I think our guys need to increase their shooting percentage. They need to come out shooting lights out. Emery tried to step up offensively last night but just doesn't have that right now. He need to just take the good shots he gets and not force anything.He makes up for it on defense.



I think Jimmer needs to shoot better from three point land and obouo and hartsock need to produce offensively.



If we shoot well I think we will win this game. If we shoot like we have been I suspect Gonzaga wins comfortably.

Emery needs to act like a senior. dude ha been pedestrian for weeks now on offense. I think we get a good game out of him every 5 the last half of the season.



Was nice to see Abuou use a pump fake from 3, then drive move. Wish Emery, Jimmer and Rogers used it. Would also like to see BYU use Harsock and Jimmer with the pick and roll. Used it with Magnusson 2x for 3 pointers, and I like Hartsock's mid range game. Could be a real weapon, but we really never use it much. If Noah knocked that down, might open up shots for Jimmer.

emery should take more midrange shots as well.

Seems like 4/5 starters can take it to the hole well (although one can't finish - KC). Ironically it is our big man, hart sock that is most limited driving to the hoop. I say we drive on them from all four corners of the court. Fredette, abouo, collinsworth and emery can all dribble drive pretty well, let them do it. Drive first, jump shot second. We look really weak passing around the perimeter and shooting the first potential three.

We need to shoot at or above 50 percent on Sat. to win. It's doable.



For the season, Gonzaga is shooting 48% (10th in the nation). They shot above 55% last night.



We need stops on defense and buckets in transition. Our guards ought to be able to pressure their guards and over power them, so that's a weakness we can exploit. An uptempo game will wear their 7 footers out, especially at 5500 feet. I didn't think we pushed the ball enough yesterday and when we finally started pushing it, we took over.



Both Emery and Abouo need to put it on the floor more. We don't have a post presence, so to compensate for that we're going to need to drive to the lane so the defense collapses. The driver can then kick it out and of course the player on the wing needs to hit the open shot.



Most importantly, Emery, Abouo, KC and Noah need to hit shots early in the game. If they struggle, it becomes the Jimmer show and the Fredettes show up standing around.

Emery doesn't put it on the floor. That is simply not part of his game. Especially when he is our "anti-cherrypicker" first man back on defense. The closer he gets to the hoop - not in transition - the worse we get on defense. KC needs to slash, and Abuou needs to slash (and stop shooting 10 seconds into the clock in "mock-isolation," would you?)



The key here is to make the defense move around so they don't camp on the 3 lines - but here's the key - WITHOUT GETTING THE CHARGE! Lately the refs have been calling anything that even looks like a charge, so be very aware of that. WE NEED EVERY FOUL FOR THE DEFENSIVE END if we have a prayer of winning this game. That includes moving screens by Anderson, and general "oafishness"...



If we spread the floor, and make them D inside the 3 point line, whether by post or drive and dish to backdoor cuts, then we open up the floor for our 3 point shooters.



Count how many times we have 5 guys that aren't 18 feet within the basket at the same time. It'll drive you nuts! When you play a churchball offense, you get churchball shooting percentages...

I was only able to watch part of the game in the first half. I was interrupted when I ran to the window to see the fire engine. There was no fire engine it was BYU clanging the ball of the rim and backboard. I think there was at least 4 and probably 5 shots in a row they just hucked at the backboard and missed. There didn't appear to be much effort to pass for a better shot or any attempt to drive to the hole.



Maybe Emery does need to get back on defense but once in a while he ought to drive to keep the other teams defense honest.

Yes it was nice and it was effective. He should do it more. no one is expecting him to drive and if he can beat his first defender he either has a wide open lane or can pull up for the jumper.
