"Last year we were happy to be in the tournament. We were there, like little kids in the candy store," Diggs said. "This year is more about the opponent - I don't know much about BYU, but it is a team we can match up with."



Glad they will come overconfident and expecting to shut down Jimmer!

In three games, he averaged 22.7 ppg, shot .462 from the floor, .476 from three and made 10-11 free throws. He never shot worse than .421 from the floor and .444 from three.



Jimmer will eat these guys alive.

Great stats Spiff. The problem is that we need all our guys to be eating that team alive and not use up our Jimmer card just to beat Wofford.

I saw briefly on ksl tv last night they have a big guy who was the POY. Is it true he's only 6'8"? He looks no better than one of sdsu's guys and certainly not ogide or drew gordon.

And their point guard, looks to be about 5'8", quick, and probably confident, but, I 'm guessing that Wisconsin was looking past lowly wofford last year.

Wisconsin did look past Wofford, but Wisconsin also plays a style poorly suited for tournament action. You can't play a slow game that keeps teams in it late where they have a chance to make a play or two to win.

To be fair, if I were a 14 seed, I'd be pretty happy to get that we didn't get matched up with Uconn, Texas or Kentucky.

Vegas has Cougs as an 8 point favorite. Hope that's right.

My son said "They wont be calling him Jimmy after Thursday". Hope that's right.

Just heard a radio interview where the Swofford coach said that they would have a 6'2' guarding Jimmer and they couldnt afford to have doublew teams all the time and that he wished they had a "Billy White" to guard Jimmer, but they just dont.

He did say they match up better with BYU than other teams with big guys in the middle.

so basically he's okay with Jimmer scoring 40-50 points because they don't have a "Billy White" to hold him to only 30. I like the sound of that.



I also like that they're 289th in rebounds per game and that they don't have anyone over 6'6" that plays significant minutes

Then they might even be scared of Anderson. That bodes VERY well.

No, that's not true. He's only 6'6". In fact, there are only three players on Wofford taller than him and they combined for 72 total minutes all season. I don't expect to see too much of them this game.

If I were Rose, I'd throw Anderson in there every now and then to spell Noah. Having Anderson in the paint will throw Wofford off a bit. They'll suddenly have to adjust to Anderson camping out in the middle.



KC, Abouo, Rogers, and Noah are as big or bigger than Wofford's starting 5.



I take comfort in the fact AF showed up and beat Wofford on Wofford's home court. If AF can pull that off, we should be able to pull off a win in the tourney.

Good. so if Noah guards him or even is help-side defense to Chalrles, we can contain their medium-big guy. Noah wont even have to jump with his long arms. Anderson would only need to barely lift his arms up. :-) And Logan can body him up and play some smart defense on him--which Logan is very capable of with a guy that size. (not trying to over-tout logan, just that he played very admitably vs UNM).

Does playing at altitude make that big a difference? I was an avid runner in college. I remember when I was a student at BYU (from Seattle), it would take me a while to be able to run in Provo without getting short of breath. The way the Cougs run, I'm thinking Wofford, St. Johns, Gonzaga, may have a tough time keeping up. I think it made a difference when SDSU played in Provo even though their bench is deep.

I think playing in Denver is definitely a big advantage for the altitude I remember experiencing the same as you but running in Utah to running at about sea level near D.C. I was just amazed at just how much harder and longer I could run when at sea level and it always seemed to take at least a week or two to readjust when I've come back up to higher altitudes.

By name recognition only, I would be more afraid of Uconn, Kentucky or Texas... by performance or quality of team there really is not much difference between these 3-4 seeds. Their coach is well aware of who this team is at least and if he hasn't already corrected his teams mindset they'll be in for a shocker on thursday.

Ahhh, forgot about the altitude. Wofford is at about 800 ft in elevation. Provo is at 4,550 ft. Denver is at 5,280 ft. Wofford will be sucking wind midway through the 2nd half.



I'm sure they'll get there a day or two early and have already started taking phosphates, but that will all wear off in the final 8 min of the game.

Oh Yea! This is the kind of opponent that you want that underrates you as the #3 team. They have an acute case of Big East deer-in-the-headlights disease and they think they we will match up better for them. Well good luck with that one my Woffording men of grief because after I read that article I wanted to take the floor myself and kick their ACT high arses back to SC. They played one game west of the Mississippi in Minnesota and they think they will just naturally assimilate to the mile-high atmosphere with no affect? Confidence is good, but it sounds to me like they border a bit more on arrogance.

Good luck beating byu if you are not double teaming jimmer. that comment made me feel a lot better about this game.
