Fair shake due to economics?

I don't think any of us are going to complain about a 3 and Denver; in fact I'm not sure there aren't 7 and 8,9 seeds better than St. Johns now that Kennedy is out AND Florida is a joke at the 2 seed if we happen to get that far.



It's a bracket that we could have won with Davies.





Now the question is how did we get a 3 in light of the committees infamous debauchery against us in the past.



The answer = Jimmer and money



Denver and the state of Colorado wanted Jimmer and CBS wants Jimmer to roll on.



They knew St. Johns was a wounded duck and they know Gonzaga can't guard Jimmer outside. (both can still beat us without BD but we still have a fighting chance to win)



If you have another opinion, don't bother, because I'll summarily dismiss it. I see no other possibility for having such a favorable seed and bracket... Jimmermania has paid off big time.



When and if we lose, we'll have no one to complain about but the team. Jimmer will get calls against these guys. We will have the majority of the fans and we're the only team that really knows how to deal with the altitude.



It's a great seed and bracket... with or without Brandon. With Brandon, I'd be packing my bags for the Final Four right now.

I think this is the best bracket we could have expected.

You make three points here that are lost on most pundits. SI, for example, was saying that BYU "lost a West slot" by losing to SDSU Saturday. Frankly, I think we are in a better position, by far, than SDSU for advancing. None of the three opponents/potential opponents will bring many fans. All are small schools without national fan bases. Wofford is a small school in Spartanburg, SC. Gonzaga has fans that will travel, but not many compared to the masses that will either travel to Denver from Utah, or are just local Colorado fans. St. Johns is in New York and, like Gonzaga, has fans that will travel, but not many. These should be like home games for BYU.



The refs should be more neutral, and Jimmer should get more calls. There may be a few MWC refs in the tournament, but they'll be scattered around. The likelihood of BYU getting any of them is not high. But we need to be careful what we wish for. I live in Big 10 country and the Big 10 refs, for example, let a lot of stuff go, giving the Big 10 a reputation for really physical play. They basically let the teams beat up on each other in a lot of games I have watched this year.



The altitude can definitely be a factor for teams that play home games at low altitude and who have shallow benches. Gonzaga is in Spokane (1,873 feet), St. Johns is in NYC (sea level), and Wofford is in Spartanburg, SC (807 feet). I'm not sure how deep they are, but the altitude will definitely take a toll.

How points did he score? I am not sure you can say "outplayed" but nonetheless I would expect that. He was coming off of mono and an overtime (or was it double overtime?) game. Jimmer ran out of gas. But you can't deny that pullen was mugging the crap out of Jimmer.

Been saying this for weeks...Jimmer is the only reason we were not assessed the BYU +2 penalty. For once we are a top draw as far as TV ratings go so no doubt someone made sure the committee put us in a soft region. I don't know how the reffing will go and I hate even needing to bring it up, but if he gets the fair treatment he got in the 1st half of conference then we are in for a great ride. Just think about how many times per game we leave 2 FT points on the floor because the ref doesn't have the balls to make a call.
