We missed 18 three point shots and got beaten soundly, just like our loss to UNM at home.



We cannot force 3s to get back in games; they have to come in the flow of the game when they're unchallenged and high percentage.



Tis was a winnable game, but it came down to poor shot selection and missed opportunity.



I didn't mind losing (in fact I expected to without Brandon) but I didn't want to lose in a way that made it look obvious that we're a wounded animal. Unfortunately, the best we're going to see is a 3 seed now and a 4 if the committee remembers that they hate BYU.



A sweet 16 will be quite the achievement now.

5 guys standing around the 3 line = a loss for us. How many halves do we have to lose before we realize that?

Too true. I don't know why Rose doesn't rein the players in when they start jacking up wild 3s, yet it always seems to happen when we get desperate.

Despite what many might think about the officiating and the conf antiBYU bias fact is we got BEAT today.



Turnovers, missed opportunities under the basket, ill advised or rushed shots, trying to get back into the game with 3 point shots that were not falling. My only compliant about this team is that they tend to panic when trailing and they make things worse, problem is we don't have a solution with our lack of bigs

Jax was shooting 3's like he got points for how fast he got the ball and shot them.



I know that you need to have a short memory to shoot, but rushing into a shot when you have been shooting poorly for the last 3 games seems counter-productive to me.

Not to mention the fact that SDSU was scoring off tips at will. Would've made Nelly proud.

rewatch the game, notice they clear our guys out when the do their tips, normally they cleared at least 1 person with an elbow, or pushing them down/back/under the basket.

We should have used Anderson more in the 1st half. He's the only one who had enough length to have caused SDSU trouble inside. Anderson could at least blocked a few of their billion put backs and at least wouldn't have allowed them to rebound the ball so easily. They got way too many second chance points. We got dominated inside and I put some of the blame on Rose for not making the adjustment with Anderson after he realized Magnusson was going to be useless this game. With Anderson playing the first half I think the game would have been A LOT closer.

No, Anderson, is uncoordinated, and worthless on offense, and many times fouls to much.

We didn't NEED him on offense, my entire post was about DEFENSE!!!! Noah wasn't much help on offense either tonight

I am still just shocked at how little we use Abuou and Collinsworth in the low post. Both can take guys down there--and have recently. Think the Wyoming game. Yet it is all basically about Jimmer pounding the rock, creating, a few high screens, then perimeter passes. I would love to see some baseline screens, a pick and roll, or anything like that. Jimmer is a gifted player, but some basic plays against a man to man would be sweet. Jimmer has to score 40+ for us to win with the current scheme, and we are better than that.

Thankfully we won't have to play three games in three days again and have no depth and therefore will have no legs for that last game.



It should have been pretty obvious that BYU was going to struggle shooting given the number of games and minutes our starters/shooters had played the last three days.

I started to get worried when after only 5-7 minutes in the first half Fisher was taking Gay out and and one of the forwards out. To see the 2,460lb Carlwell so early in the game showed me that Fisher was gonna make sure his starters had plenty of gas to finish the game off. That was my first indication that this was gonna not end well.

Abuou needs to post at 12 feet, then turn and 3 point stance his man. Jab step and take it to the hole. If we don't have an inside game because of lack of size/offensive post ability, we need to create one with back cuts and slashing to the rim.



The only time we shoot within 15 feet of the hoop lately is when Jimmer cuts to the rim.
