BYU Pro-Combat Unis

Apparently we are going to be getting on that ill-advised bandwagon next season. Luckily, there won't be too much changing--the biggest change will be just a stretch-Y on the helmets without the surrounding oval.



Should be interesting, but I'd prefer sticking with the traditional stuff and going throwback for the big games instead of selling out to Nike.

I thought this was just a rumor and Bronco was opposed? Do you have a link or any other information about the Pro-Combat sell out uniform?

Bingo. Recruits and the players love it. I would say most fans do as well. Don't see much harm in it. They can keep them traditional as well.

@Ybrit -- as I recall those are a fan's mockup of what Nike Pro Combat unis might look like.

TCU got faux horned frog skin

Florida got faux alligator skin

BSU had a huge logo on one side of the helmet

West Virginia and Pitt had black added to their navy and gold color schemes



Based on that, what do I imagine is BYU going to get?



Navy blue helmet with huge stretch-Y logo covering only one side

Black jerseys, faux-fur navy blue sleeves, white numbers, with navy outline

Faux-fur navy pants



Could get really ugly really fast.

I like the pro combat uniforms usually... but I just don't picture them looking that good with our color scheme. I favor the traditional look, and would love to see the royal blues.



Also, Heaps looks pretty black in all those mock ups.. why haven't I heard any rumors about the change?

Eh, it is all about selling more apparel and giving fans more things to buy. Marketing all the way. But I have no problem with it.

How does Nike choose the teams they do the combat unis for? Seems to me, they go with teams who will get a lot of national exposure for that year.



If that's the case. This is a compliment for BYU.

I like the idea if done right. Please don't make them hideous Nike.

I understand that them :utard: are also getting new unis next year when they are in the WHACKED-14. They are pushing the environmental look.

I don't mind some of the jersey mock ups shown above; but, I am reluctant to trust Nike after the bib debacle .

We were in Adidas apparel for a while. Not always Nike. basically, whoever will give the sweetest deal to BYU because honestly, not much difference between the 3 for the basic unis.

I'd love the Pro-Combats with one stipulation: Do them in ROYAL.
