NCAA Athlete Violence code-or lack thereof

David Steele from AOL FanHouse uses the news of BYU's honor code/athlete punishment to highlight the NCAA's failure to address the issue of (or severely discipline) athletes accused of violent crimes.

Understand that the NCAA has the power to punish athletes for selling their own jerseys, for trading autographs for tattoos and for attending parties thrown by agents. Plus, Redmond pointed out to AOL FanHouse in November, “the NCAA has policies against tobacco, it has policies that say a person can’t buy a Big Mac for an athlete, but a person can beat up someone or rape them and be on the field the next week.”
