BYU men start playing Thursday against either TCU or Wyo. BYU women start playing Friday after two BYE games.

I'd like to see the men's bracket mirror the women's. The women's actually rewards the regular season champion by giving them a bye to the semis. And the also protect the other top seeds.

If the men's had a similar set up CSU would be playing TCU with the winner playing the winner of Wyoming and Air Force. Then UNLV would play the winner of Utah and New Mexico.

The winner of the CSU/TCU vs WYO/AF team would play BYU while the winner of UNLV vs UNM/Utah would play SDSU.

I think it's a matter of having more men's games on TV. Note that the the bulk of men's games are played when the TV starts showing them on Thursday.

Good idea in theory, but since games are on ghetto networks it's irrelevant.

Normally I would absolutely agree that the women's tournament format would be best. However, this year I feel BYU needs as many games as possible leading up to the NCAA to:

1) Learn how to play and win without Brandon Davies

2) Restore its faith in itself that it can win

3) Restore national credibility to help with NCAA seeding

Right, because that third game against an 11-21 TCU or a 11-20 Wyoming is really what's going to convince the NCAA Selection committee that BYU has learned how to play and win without BD, restore the team's self confidence and fix any national credibility gaps.

Winning the MWC tournament would do that regardless if BYU didn't enter the tournament until the semi-finals.

I was listening to some "expert" on ESPN and he said that when something like the Davies incident happens to a team just before the big dance, and it's highly ranked, like in a number one slot, the committee will usually drop the team unless it shows in its remaining games that it has overcome its adversities. He said that just winning the MWC tournament wouldn't be good enough, but that BYU had to win the games convincingly. I'm all winning convincingly. A thirty point win over UNM wouldn't be bad and a 13 point win over SUDS would make me a happy man.
