Here is the bracket:

Has anybody seen this type of setup before? If the 1 or 2 seed wins the tourney they only have to play in 2 games. I wonder how this bracket will be changed to accommodate 9 teams for next year. Interesting setup.

AND

Anybody else loving the fact that BYUtv is carrying the first 2 rounds of the WCC tournament? It kind of feels like BYU is giving a big ole middle finger to the MWC. I've been watching the games today on BYUtv.org and the streaming quality for me has been excellent. It's a preview of the future!!

They interviewed the WCC Commissioner Jaime Zaninovich and he said some interesting things. They are loving BYUtv. Said that BYUtv will be broadcasting almost all athletic events BYU is involved in and many events/games that BYU is not involved in. Said that WCC coaches across all sports are very excited about the increased exposure that BYUtv is bringing them. The basketball coaches are relieved that Jimmer is a senior.

He also said that the Orleans arena is already making plans to expand its seating capacity for next years tournament to accommodate the higher demand for tickets that BYU brings.

AND, doesnt this tourney wrap up before the others? At first glance, I love this! BYU will be better rested, although possibly rusty, after they play in the finals and win.

That tournament format is the similar to what the MWC Women use. I would have liked its adoption in Mens but won't have to worry about that after next week.

The WCC tourney in LV has been a huge success. It has averaged almost as many fans as the MWC (about 1k less or so) in a smaller venue and no local teams. USA Today had a article this week on the 3 tourneys in LV. With no fb, the LV venue has become the major event for the conference and the fans descent in good numbers.

With BYU in the WCC, I expect the tourney to do even better....

Nice that the WCC folks appreciate the value of BYUtv and I am glad that BYUtv got involved a year early on this whole business....
