Davies out for HC violation

We have a great coach and plenty of offense and defense to get us to where we need to go. I'm not ready to concede a loss because of a single player missing games. Last time I checked, basketball was a team sport.

Davies was our only true "big man" who could play worth a damn. Last I checked, Anderson could barely catch the ball, let alone score from the post.

HC strikes again. Another reason why BYU will always struggle to be elite in athletics. You can deny it all you want, but the facts do not lie. BYU loses key players every couple of years in hoops and football due to HC issues. Kids make mistakes they shoud not, but the HC sure makes sure they get punished for it. Glad my temple recommend interview is not as harsh or strict.



BY the way, in a year when BYU is a feel good story, this sure puts BYU under the spotlight for the wrong reasons. Principles be damned.



Also, when are BYU athletes going to realize that the women theyfool around with will go to their bishops and talk due to guilt? Seriously, Mormon women and guilt go hand in hand. ;)

Damn man, how can we not jump ship???..........We're already short-handed underneath and now we lose our starting 5 - man. Neither Anderson nor Magnusson can even come close to what Davies offered. Our inside game has now totally disappeared and now we become one-dimensional like the BYU teams of old. This BLOWS!!!!!!

I had my rant against the HC after Unga got the boot. My feelings haven't changed. The HC office is a tyrannical organization who doles out harsh punishments like candy on halloween. I know a guy who was on the HC committee - he laughed about what it was like to kick students out of school, especially athletes. Anyone who doesn't think the athletes have a target on their back is just fooling themselves. There are plenty of Michelle P's running around out there - and most work in the HC office.

I don't want to harp on any opinions but the thing that I always think when their is a HC problem...The athlete knew what was expected of them as far as HC goes...especially when you are having or have the potential of having a stellar season why risk a HC violation? It sucks and hopefully it is not devastating for the person but unfortunately his actions also affect others...

...really a bummer...



The athletes do probably have a target on their backs as far as HC goes which amazes me even more when the athlete still does it. Yes, everyone is watching them, don't do something boneheaded.

The #1 seed is gone. No way we win the MWC tourney without Davies. So a #2 seed now. And possible a 1 and done NCAA tourney run, maybe Sweet 16. No way we get past that.



If I was Coach Rose, I would be sad and pissed at the same time. HC can really suck It definitely is harsh.

Don't get pissed at the honor code, get pissed at the player. You don't want to follow the HC, you don't have to go to BYU. I'm sure Coach Rose is saddened more than anything that one of his players chose to screw up so badly.

I suppose I am glad this will not be judged in the court of public opinion. But I would love to hear what the violation was and how letter of the law the HC office was.

When I think of what LaVell got away with---yes I just invoked the sacred name of LaVell--I just want to......employ my anger management.

And yes, the girl probably is still enrolled and attending.

This had better be a second offense or something really extreme otherwise,...thats all I am saying. Reactive? Yes. End of the world? NO. Timing very curious? Absolutely!

To me, assuming the girl went and confessed to her bishop and the chain started, is the byu/mormon version of the hussies that follow pro players and then blackmail them.

ouch. Davies just became the anti-Jimmer- least popular guy on campus.



I feel bad for the kid though. He'll regret this for a LONG time.

Davies has/had a long-term girlfriend who lived away from Provo. Besides, we don't even know if it was chastity issues, if it was word of wisdom issues, if it was a first-time offense, etc.



I'm super-disappointed right now, but I think the last thing a 19-year-old kid who just let down a probable-1st-seed team in a MAJOR way needs is for a bunch of people to speculate WHAT exactly he did. I hope he gets his stuff straightened out and comes back.

Maybe this is like a biblical gideon sort of thing
