Spring Ball March 15th - Thoughts/Comments

Doman is quoted as saying, "I'm as excited as I've ever been, as a player or a coach, with the new era that's coming, going independent, the partnership with ESPN, the venues that we're going to play in and then you look at the core, the nucleus of this football team, the youth of this football team and quite frankly the talent of these young players we have in this program."



Given the experience of the returning youth, eligible players that red-shirted (looking to tear it up; i.e. Kaveinga, Apo, Phillips, Hebron, Sampson, Everett...etc.), and some talented freshmen (Bingham 4, Matthews, etc.) this team is going to be very deep talent-wise and I think will just plain wear teams down with their "take no prisoners" intensity approach. Because Bronco has found his alter-egos on the Offensive side of the ball, we will spell T-R-O-U-B-L-E for future oponents. ;)

I don't think that we have ever seen the level and depth of talent that is now in the stable. Couple that with what I think will be a great coaching combination, with Bronco and Doman as coordinators, and I think this will be a team to be reconned with. I am way excited.

I don't want to start another thread with a similar title and my intention is not to hi-jack this one but aside from the March 15th start date do any of you know what the rest of the spring practice schedule looks like? Any blue/white game? Any fan appreciation or opportunities to meet players and/or coaches?



Also, I really want to bring my wife down to the couples camp in the summer but can't see anything on Byucougars.com that says when that is. If any of you have any inside infomation about it will you please share here?!

All I can say is that with what is going down with the hoops team, football can not start soon enough. The sooner the better. Just in time.

Amen. I can't watch another basketball game now; it just hurts too much, and we all know how this season will end. That being said, I love all these games in the South...hopefully I can get a hold of some tix. It's football time!

Well, at this point it may not be anybetter. If lawboy's sources are correct, spring ball is probably going to be full of just as many pleasant surprises.

All I can say is that I hope my sources are 100% wrong. I have no problem with them being wrong, either, and my post being incorrect. I hope it was.

I think KVN is safe. Not saying he does or does not have issues, just saying expect him at BYU. Not case with another LB, but this is a personal choice and not HC related at all, and could be good for the guy. As to DB rumor, still hearing stuff. As to other rumors on QB, not true at all, and WR is safe as long as stays academically in line. Anyway, whatever is true or not, will know first day of spring ball all the same.

Latest rumor is that Robbie Buckner's mom, who watched the 7-7 drills, says Robbie is playing fine but that Kori Gaines is off of the team. Any truth to the statement?

Cori Gaines is the name of the DB I heard was having some issues and might not be with the team. I have no other info on why, if he might return, etc.. As to the LB, I was told that Jadon Wagner is the LB that might be moving on, but by mutual agreement and not for any other reason. I had heard months ago he was offered a CFL deal to go play, so perhaps he might have taken it. He is Canadian, and the CFL teams do have a certain # on roster. So there it is. I am sure will get more details first day of Spring Camp. Just hope no surprises with player issues.



As to other player issues, from what I am hearing, they are being handled, and unless someone slips up with grades or slacks in the classroom, everyone else should be ok for spring ball, minus those out with injury.
