just goes to show how much more respect we have over SDSU. After we lost to an unranked UNM team, we didn't drop at all. After SDSU loses to a top 10 ten, they drop 5 spots.

its losing twice to byu that spooked the voters. they now realize that they may have over-rated the suds. Plus, look what happened when we beat sdsu the first time. Love for sdsu and not much for byu. now they are rectifying that-sort of. Exceept when it comes to Pitt and KU.

I couldn't be any happier - I say that that ranking is just right for my liking. #3 is SERIOUS respect! :crazy:

As did I - I didn't think we'd jump Duke, but we just barely edged them out. Pleasant surprise.

Wow! Number 3 is better than I expected. I thought we'd come in at 4.

Doesnt matter anymore. If the team internalizes "we are the #3 team in the country" i dont like what that does typically to byu egos. Stay focused and grounded COugs and you can so something very special. Let it go to your head and get taken out early just like KU did last year in the second round.

Very good point. I like how we played when we were considered the underdog. Now we've got something to lose.

Isn't this the highest a BYU basketball team has been ranked--ever? And there is no reason to think we will lose either game, at home, this week. Wow, it wouldn't take much for BYU to climb up to #1. Everybody goes through their conference tournaments, OSU and Kansas loses and BYU wins??--it's #1 baby.



I'm not so sure i want that top ranking other than to be able to say a BYU basketball team was once ranked #1 in the nation. Not much doubt in my mind now that BYU will get a #1 seed in the tournament.

In the AP the guy who ranked BYU the lowest, #7, also ranked Pitt the highest, #2.

Also interesting that BYU had more first place votes with 5, than second place votes with 3. 28 total 3rd place votes.

Have we been any higher than #3? It seems to me that in 1988, we were 3 for a week before a loss. So, is this the highest we have ever been ranked?
