Jimmer shares Conference Player of the Week award with someone who averaged almost 10 less points, 2 less assists, and one less rebound – and the Cougs played against the two more difficult teams… The MWC couldn’t be less impartial if they were TRYING to do so…..

*EDIT Stupid me originally typed "POY" but should have originally typed "POW" - I confess to being a doofus!

WOW! Serious slappage by the MWC on the way out the door. AND WE HAVE ALREADY GOTTEN THE LAST LAUGH--YOU FRICKEN MORONS AND YOUR MORON HAIRBALL OF A LEADER!!!!!!!!

I thought you were talking about the MWC Player of the Year award. I almost died laughing when I saw Tre-Von's name.

Once I realized it was only for play of the week, it was slightly less funny, but still pretty ridiculous seeing their names together for the award, especially after what Jimmer has done to Tre-Von in their two meetings

You most probably meant POW and not POY, and yes, it is getting "old hat". In the MWC it just doesn't mean much because they have this inclusion issue and desire to spread it around. That's okay, but don't call it POW, but come up with some other name that doesn't necessarily suggest the individual was the weekly MVP, but that his efforts should be highlighted.

I'm glad the MWC is soon to me in our rear veiw mirror.

Jimmer and Tre'Von share the MWC player of the week, in a week that Jimmer led the Cougs to wins over the teams that were #1 and #3 in the conference at the beginning of the week, and does so finishing on the biggest stage of the week for any team in hostile territory, dropping 9 dimes in addition to 25 points. In a week where Jimmer had a "performance that wowed" ESPN and the nation (see gregwrubell tweet: Jimmer Fredette with an ESPN.com Weekly Watch "Performance That Wowed Us" http://es.pn/hBirJJ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). I think the chances are better for Jimmer to win the National POY than the MWC POY!

Jimmer had a great game all around. However, I am getting troubled by his continued poor shooting. He has not had many great shooting nights in the last 10 games. He was just above 33% for the game--again. Honestly, while he was good, Hartsock and Abuou were the players of the game, if you ask me because they played above the norm. Hartsock, in particular. Jimmer was Jimmer, but his shooting has to improve its shot selection. He gets an open checkbook from Rose and uses it. His teammates are earning the right to get the ball in crucial situations, and I love that. Depth makes us better.

Sorry I didn't see the other thread. For discussion on this go to the thread: Officially WAY past "getting old" at [merged by MODS]

It already is brother. It already is.

The only remaining test is UNM, and I think we come out firing and doing our own version of CSU and push around UNM like the little brothers that they are this year. We pile it on early and often and scare those little baby lobos and their jerk coach back to NM.

Then we will have transcended the MWC conference this year (wyo will be the send off cherry on top farewell tour) and it just simply will not matter.

Jimmer can send his MWC co-player of the YEAR back to the hdqtrs with some of his hair clippings (replacements for The Hair, just oin case he runs out) on it and a sign that says "You got Jimmered by the National Player-of-the-year!"

While I agree with what you are saying, you have to take into account a couple of things of which I know you are already aware. Every lay-up attempt in which he is fouled is counted as a shot, and almost every game he gets a call or two where it is unclear what he was doing, but the refs give him the benefit of the doubt that he was shooting, and send him to the free-throw line (and occasionally he is fouled and there is no call but shot still counts against his attempts). Also, we have to account for the fact that he is double and triple-teamed most of the night. If Abouo and Hartsock were shooting out of double and triple-teams they would be shooting less than 30%.

That being said, Jimmer needs to be having more 9-10 assist outings, if he is truly taking what the defense is giving. The SDSU game showed that he is making progress in that regard. I was at the TCU game, and there were lots of open Cougs, but Jimmer was a little out of control as he tried to get his points. Every game I find myself praying that Jimmer will play within himself, because when he does we are unstoppable.

.....if our guys make the shots, like they did saturday. But yes , I dont think anyone would disagree with what you are stating.

How funny AND obvious would it be, if Jimmer got National POY but not MWC POY?

I know we recognize it, but so would rest of the nation too.

I think he is tired and a lot of the shots that used to go in just aren't anymore. it hasn't stopped teams from tripple teaming him though which has opened up the game for others. noah's and charles' shots were wide open. its not as hard to make wide open shots. they are open because of Jimmer. Jimmer makes everybody better and is getting 25 points or so despite being completely mugged every game.

Maybe some clarification here. If the shooter is fouled and misses the shot and a foul is called that is not counted as an attempt. If the basket is made, it counts as a make and an attempt. Unless you were saying Jimmer gets fouled and misses layups with no fouls called than you are correct it will count against him.

My buddies and I have been saying this all year long. It already happened once this season where Jimmer got National POW but only Co-POW in the MWC. I can totally see it happening where Jimmer gets National POY and shares the MWC with Leanord. Jimmer should take the trophy from the MWC and put it in the nearest garbage can.

He was saying that sometimes Jimmer gets fouled on a drive, etc, but they don't call it, and so he misses. That counts as an attempt, although the chances of it going in are slim to none.

You can count 3 or 4 of these a game.

BlueIsBetter said it better than I did. That is what I was trying to say. Thanks Blue!

I am pretty sure that when you are fouled and the shot does not go in, that shot never happened statistically. It only counts if you make the basket. That said, what I think is that he is a little off- a lot of his touch layups that fell early in the season are not always falling and with the dropoff in fouls being called on his shot attempts they are now just being recorded as an attempt. Add that to the much more aggressive D from inbound on and I think we start to get a better idea. Add in injuries, fatigue, familiarity of opponent and they all help drop his percentage a little. But to me the biggest factor is that he is getting mugged but not getting the calls. I saw no less than three times in the game saturday where he was literally knocked back and nothing was called.

Jimmer was 4-8 from three. He didn't shoot poorly from outside.

If you are fouled on an attempt and the bucket doesn't count, there is no attempt credited.

But if you are fouled, miss the shot, and no foul is called, then the shot attempt counts.

Correct, because in that case you weren't really "fouled." Since a foul is only a foul when it's called. Just like a bell isn't a bell until you ring it or a song isn't a song until you've sung it or love isn't love until you give it away. Or something like that.
