Breaking law? Perhaps, but It's our American duty to overtake and separate from the evil access skin (m(wc)tn being foreskin in this case) in order to meet the needs of literally hundreds of thousands of BYU fans.





So I say, go ahead and infringe on their copyrights, since they swindled it in the first place.

Copyright is copyright. If you don't have the rights to do this you don't have the rights. I wish the mtn wasn't this petty. But they are within in their rights to protect what is theirs.

I would not mess with copyright laws is all I know. Especially not repeatedly once I got a notice. IT is their product to protect because it generates their income. And as it is an economic right, it deserves to be protected.

Kitic what you dont understand is that this was him with his camera AT THE GAME, this wasnt him posting a mtn telecast or highlights, this was HIS OWN FILM

Doesn't matter. He doesn't own the broadcast rights. Only the Mountain can distribute video footage of the game.

I used to film interviews of bands that came to town a few years back. The people in charge would constantly and consistenly let us know that we were in no way allowed to film any part of the show and use it whether it was for profit or not. I imagine for a sporting event it's probably even more "protected". I dont know exact laws or anything but I'm pretty sure if they went after you, that you could end up paying a HUGE fine on top of some sort of restitution also could be looking at some prison or jail time. So as lame as they're being about it, I surely wouldn't mess with it, and I'm not usually one that gives in very easily. I would take they're warning and just be super stoked that you at least got a warning.

but how often do u actually see this enforced? i mean yes, the actual broadcast is one thing, but do u see the nfl taking down people who take videos at the games, or the mlb?

Pretty much EVERY video on EVERY site would be taken down if EVERYONE enforced copyright.

Unfortunately, we're not talking about every video on every site. We're talking about these specific videos on this specific site. And we're talking about the legal owners of the broadcast rights of those videos asking them to be taken down.



I wish they wouldn't, I like being able to see BYU and Jimmer highlights. But I don't know how to argue they shouldn't be taken down.



It's like going to someone's home. You're welcome there until they ask you to leave. And then you should.

THey're perfectly in thier legal rights, which is going to be the downfall of the mtn if you ask me. Instead of increasing their exposure any chance they get (and you have to admit, youtube is to exposure as ESPN is to sports) they keep their teams, highlights, players and games as far as they can from the public eye. They act like a 3 year old who won't share his candy.



Legal, but stupid. Embrace the added exposure and turn it into an advantage.



But this is the mtn we are talking about, they have done this same thing throughout their short history. Especially when it comes to BYU. Instead of making their flagship program more available nationally, they'll put some women's basket weaving competition on instead of a Bball game. At least those people calling the shots at the mtn are consistent.

Yep. the mtn is a poorly run organization. They've never embraced exposure or ways to garner it.
