Rumor Mill

I need to be careful with this post. I don't want to be like several of the schmucks on cougarboard. So let me just ask if anyone is hearing any disturbing rumors that can be substantiated that would negatively affect the football program? I've heard something from more than one source that I won't repeat because I didn't get it from the horses mouth. One of the sources could probably just be repeating something he heard in the rumor mill, but it's the other source that is making me nervous. Several of you guys have more direct connections to the program than I do, so I simply post the question above. If nobody has anything substantial, then I'm satisfied that I'm just hearing concocted rumors, which I hope is the case. But if somebody knows something, they would probably be on this forum.

I am just going to say it. While I have no sources, Jake's fiance is not pregnant. :)

Rumor is that Jake and fiance are getting married next December. I know many have rumored that there are HC issues here, but if the baby was on the way, I think the wedding already has happened. I think that is a bogus rumor. This is the big one out there, and I am with johnnylingo. I just do not buy it. I think it is total BS.

If his Fiance were really pregnant, it wouldn't matter when they got married, he would be out of school by now and the media would be all over it.

So I heard this rumor that is so awful it might lead the brethren to shut down BYU - both athletically and academically. I'm so afraid of it that I dare not say anymore. Has anyone else also heard this incendiary rumor who can confirm what I'm hearing? I hope I haven't said to much already. I don't even want to say if I have a source or not because I don't want to scare off the source - if I do have one - from telling me more.

This is killing me. Better be a rumor. The last thing BYU needs right now is to drop its athletics. If anyone wants to PM me about what they've heard you won't hear a peep out of me (here or anywhere else), but the suspense is killing me.

All I can say is that those types of rumors are usually total BS. If BYU can get through the Crowton era HC issues, then it would have to be HUGE to affect sports at all. Seriously, remember all the crap that went on with Crowton players multiple times, and that did not cause a drop in programs. I do not believe any of that crap. One player, or even many making mistakes is no reason to drop sports. Never will be, either. BYU has too much money tied into athletics, uses it too much for missionary type of work, and just spent a fortune on a broadcast center to leverage that even more. I am not buying any doom and gloom crap. These rumors are generally total BS. And the people who start them should really be ashamed of themselves.



BYU plans to try to broadcast its Olympic type sports into China and other countries as well, as a means of getting exposure for the church in those closed off countries. They could care less about football over there, but do care about other sports that many of us here do not follow. But football--and football $$--drives the engine to allow BYU to field those other teams. They all go together, and the church will continue to use them for that purpose. Seriously, the mistakes of a few would not outweigh the overall benefit of the athletics department. Thinking otherwise is naive.

I'd rather he goes and gets married in vegas this weekend. Remove the possibility of HC issues while waiting for the wedding. Or send his finance to a monistary...

Yes, the rumor is true and it's very devastating and the brethren are planning on chopping off at the knees of all the higher ups of BYU for letting such a travesty occur and even encouraging it to happen.



Yes, the rumor is true, I am going back to the Y as a swing dance instructor and as the head male model for the art department.

Actually, this is true. BYU was shut down yesterday but they haven't told anyone yet. Once they realized that Jimmer is the answer to everything, there was no point in continuing.
