Anyone ever go to the MWC Tourney?

The wife and I are thinking about going down to the Tourny this year. I'm wondering if anyone has gone before and has some good advice on how we should swing it.

I go most years, but I live down here so may have a different approach on things. I would love to give you any tips about things around town, places to eat, shows to see, how to get a bail-bondsman (wait, that is for visiting utes, not CC mainstays). Best tix usually come from buying in sections reserved for Wyoming or one of the other schools likely to have a poor following, probably still surrounded by BYU fans. Tix have to be bought in packages, but you could always get scalped tix.

We should do something during the tourney, for sure!

I have gone a few times but I got sick of it, not just because we always loose to UNLV but because I get so sick of their fans chanting REBELS the whole time. Its like they have small man's disease because thier football team sucks so bad.

I'll tell you this, I've never been to the MWC tourney, but I'll be a lot more likely to go to our conference tourney in the coming years, MUCH more likely.

Only problem is I went down there to just try to get scalped tickets one year, but they had signs everywhere saying the whole illegal speal about scalping tickets and a bunch of cops walking around so I was stuck buying a nosebleed for about $40

I went last year. Ditto on the rebel whine/yell. hate it. Vowed never to go again--very obvious home court advantage. However, this year, we have a great opp.

I know my "swing" won't be for all, but let me tell you a great getaway includes Golf and Game thursday and then again on friday. If we make the champ game, then thats a bonus.

If you are a ball junky you can watch bball till you barf. its kind of fun to watch other games.

One other thought. If you believe BYU will end up in the Denver bracket--might be worth holding your chips and going to denver. If im correct, theres a good chance--which would be awesome. much rather go to my home town in denver than sin-city.

here's my advice,

bring video recording equipment, not for the game, but for evidence

bring mace, the liquid kind and the large studded-metal bat-kind

bring aspirin, Tourney event staff get forgetful and arthritis limits their ability to move around

bring a beer-shield

if happen to be a sheltered Mormon, bring a dictionary so you can understand the swear words UNLV fans are spewing at you.

double check life insurance policies and amounts

Your safety vastly improves if you choose to wear Wyoming or UNLV fan gear. (not recommended for Cougar fans)

Do not place ANY BYU paraphenlia on your car and expect to leave unscathed.

Bring the 10 commandments in one pocket, a $20 bill in the other and don't break either.

I have attended for several years and always have a great time. If you love BYU ball, you'll have a great time. With some exceptions, Rebel fans can be rowdy at times, but in my experience, they're only a problem when (a) they drink beer; (b) they're shouting the rebel chant; or (c) when they're in attendance at the Thomas & Mack. Other than that, the rebel fans are an absolute delight.

Going to the tourney for the first time ever this year. Seems like a good year to try it out. I'll just tell the UNLV and WYO fans "go easy - it's my first time!"

Ditto to everyone who says the rebel fans are EXTREMELY annoying, my friends wife left crying last year after getting berated by unlv fans when my buddy went to the bathroom. Event staff didn't even do much of anything.



So, if your company is sensitive it might not be the best place, but for me I love to cheer loud and proud for byu a few beer drops poured on someone never hurt...
