Jimmer losing control?

Anyone have any explanation about Jay Drew's tweet about Referee Mike Reed telling Rose to take Fredette out of the game because he was losing control?

idk - but Jimmer was not very happy about the charge called on him which took away a bucket and 1 opportunity that it probably should have been. Fredette was hammered and almost tackled all game long and as usual got few calls. I did see him say something to the ref - but I would not have called it out of control.

I would have been given a Tech, had it been me.

It was probably smart that he didn't. Could you imagine what his facebook page would look like if he had given Jimmer a T? :D

That's two games in a row that the refs have allowed defenders to push, clutch, grab, pull, shove, hold, trip, and foul Jimmer in the back-court, on the perimeter and in the lane without blowing the whistle. Jimmer should have shot about 40 FTs the last two games.

Jimmer? out of control? Not hardly. It only reveals that that official was doing a homer job on Jimmer. And what business does an official have telling a coach to take a player out of the game? That is crazy. I think the ref was a Utah booster and trying to get Jimmer out anyway he could.

I have no problem with a ref telling a coach to control his player instead of giving a technical. Telling him to take him out of the game on the other hand? Last time I checked, this isn't hockey, and there is no penalty box.



Looking forward to the tournament so BYU can get some impartial officiating.

Agreed. And Boyen also made some outrageous comments about Jimmer on The Mountain afterwards. Not wanting to admit that his team was successful in limiting Jimmer to 23 pts by way of official-sanctioned gauntlet, he made thinly disguized jabs at Jimmer, calling him "very difficult to officiate," hinting that Jimmer is skilled at taking a dive, and looking like he's been bumped off a shot. He said that Jimmer delivers hard blows with his hips against defenders that are at a disadvantage because they are not as "big and strong," as Jimmer is. Finally, Boylen says that his guards get "bumped all day," and it doesn't get noticed, because they are not as "big and strong."



What a crock o' crap! This is an old communist ploy during the Cold War: accuse your strategic enemy of the very things that you know that you, yourself are doing.

Losing control as in getting mad for refs letting dirty frute hands get into his mouth and places the sun don't shine. I'd be mad too. I can't wait to leave this league.

I think Jimmer forced a lot tonight early and threw up some really bad shots in the lane. Dude did not even draw iron like 4 times, and was not fouled on any of those. I think BYU fans think the kid gets fouled every time he touches it, then say nothing when Emory plays his same type of physical defense. Utah showed what BYU's weaknesses can be tonight, but luckily Abuou stepped up early, because the rest of the team was flat, out of sync and played selfishly. Way too much one on one tonight.

Emery (not EmOry) does not play that same type of defense. He is physical, but he does not clutch and grab like has been Jimmer the last two games.

Jimmer is getting banged around every game and each game opponents step it up a notch in an effort to contain Jimmer. The only solution any team has come up with to "stop" Jimmer is to play him "physical," or in other words foul him.



To a degree, a player expects and relies on a ref to keep other players in check and ensure opponents don't play too physical. Jimmer is probably pissed off because in the last three games the refs haven't done their job. They haven't protected him.



Did he lose control. No. he was just more vocal this game than in past and to the refs that may have seemed a bit odd since he's normally fairly reserved.
