Draft Express Article About Jimmer

Draft Express has a great article about Jimmer's pro prospects. Check it out:

I'm not sure why in all his draft articles, people always slam on his defensive skills. While he may lack the will to defend so does everyone else in the NBA.... Is the NBA not notorious for being petty bad defensively or am I just crazy?

Being you father I take that as a rhetorical question as remember I was there when your were growing up--especially the late teenage years. ;)



I just see this as a question we'll have to wait on to answer as when I watch Jimmer, and I have more since this article came out earlier this month, he probably does well enough, but it looks obvious, as you watch Jackson beside him, that he's not on that level of defensive play. I personally think it would take one incredible athlete to expend the energy to play defensively like Jacs and also be the point guard, especially when your game involves the amount of drives to the basket that he makes.

I don't get this either. I'm pretty sure there are plenty of PGs that get beat routinely on defense - even the elite guys. They make seem like the NBA is just teeming with guys who can shut down CP3, Derron, Rondo, Rose, et al. Is Jimmer going to be a liability on defense? Probably. But so are a lot of guys. Can Jimmer make shots to cause his opponents to be defensive liabilities as well? You bet.

Another thing people fail to consider as a possibility yet they never question the more "athletic" players...



Some nights Jimmer is our true scoring threat. Rare but true. We have lots of good defenders on this team. So is Dave Rose purposefully having Jimmer "take it easy" on defense so he doesn't get into foul trouble and has enough energy for the offensive side? I don't think you can rule that out.
