Lakers Are "Going After" Jimmer

Had a business dinner tonight, and one of the guys at the table watched the AFA game with a guy who does scouting for the Lakers overseas. During the course of the game, the scout let on that the Lakers are planning on "going after" Jimmer in the first round of the NBA draft.



So, at least one team is willing to take him in the first round

I hope they don't get him, I would hate myself if I became a Lakers fan.

Please no. No amount of Jimmercrush can overcome my hatred for the Lakers...One of the very few draw backs to living in SoCal.

If Jimmer went to the Lakers it would destroy me on the inside. I don't know what I would do.

I have no NBA allegiances, but there are plenty of players I don't like--most of them play in the East. That being said, LA would be a great place for Jimmer to play because he wouldn't be expected to do much more than distribute and make open shots. The NBA is all about a good fit, and Jimmer would do well to end up on a winning team from the getgo.

The only good thing about Jimmer going to the sLAcKERS is Jack Nicholson gets to watch him play.

Wow. Jimmer is the anti-LA. Last week I had to travel from upstate NY (near Glens Falls) to SoCal. I can't begin to describe the culture shock. Honestly, aside from the language, travelling to Europe is a smaller shock than flying to SoCal.



I just can't wrap my brain around Jimmer being a Laker. C'mon Danny bring him to Beantown!

Wow! I'm not really a fan of any particular team. I like some of them, but I would say I am more of an anti-fan. I'm usually picking who I want to lose. I have been an anti-Lakers fan for as long as I can remember. I grew up in Southern California and I could not stand the Lakers.



That being said, the Lakers do have a penchant for bringing in guys that can hit from long distance. Vujacic (sp?), Fisher, Robert Horry, etc. etc. I can see why they like Jimmer. Here's hoping, for my sake, that any other NBA team takes him...except maybe the Heat. I'm not too fond of them either. Put him on the Clippers and let him play with Blake Griffin. That would be a good inside outside combo. Except the Clippers suck, but perhaps they can rise and overcome the Lakers as the best team in LA.



I don't know, it gives you mixed feelings. It's sort of like finding out your son has gotten into medical school--at the Ewe. :sick:

The NBA is such a hollywood story, any team is basically LA these days. It's as fake as WWF for me personally. Anyways, Wherever Jimmer goes I know 2 things: 1-He won't be shipped overseas like Plaisted, 2-His time in a D-league will be short.

Jimmer has been steadily moving up lists everywhere. He'll be long gone before the Lakers have a shot at him. (Especially after a deep tourney run a la Steph Curry).

I was a long time Laker fan, having grown up in LA, but ever since they had Shaq, then Kobe, great players, but not ideal citizens at times, I just don 't follow them like i used to.



Jimmer going there would give me a chance to revisit the NBA. Haven't been a big fan of the NBA since the players' strike years ago.



If Jimmer has a good showing in the Tournament, then he won't last that long as others have said. I don't see him as a lottery pick personally, but definitely top 15-20.

Wow, that would be an absolute dream come true! I could be a bit biased since the only thing that comes close to my love of Jimmer is my love of the Lakers/Dodgers, but come on, you'd really be upset if our boy played for a franchise like the Lakers? The fans here would embrace him, we have amazing owners and he'll be given time to develop. Plus, he'd be amazing in the triangle (if it's still around) since he can get his shot off so quickly and from anywhere.



There are definitely worse places for him to end up... like a team whose fans mercilessly boo an outstanding character guy who needs to move for because his daughter is having serious health issues... or a team who lets their high maintenance point guard run off their coach of 23 years.



The Jimmer belongs in the City of Angels!
