Best player in the country

Per Scott Van Pelt of ESPN (on sports center last night)



"When an entire defense is keying in to stop one player and he still drops 25 points on you, and you still consider it a defensive success. That is the best player in the Country."

Was that Van Pelt or Jay Bilas who said that. I was surprised at how complimentary Bilas was towards a non-ACC, non-Big East player.

These guys don't have a leg to stand on to promote an ACC , Big East player. All those kids have been underwhelming for parts or most of the season.



Believe me, if Nolan Smith, Kyle Singler, or Kemba Walker were within arms reach of Jimmer in the stats book, they'd be making the argument... right now they can't and they know how ridiculous it would sound.



Fortunately, there isn't a Lou Holtz type (someone so out of touch that reality doesn't matter at all) doing ESPN hoops to even make the effort to marginalize The Jimmer.

I agree with him not being as bad as Elmer Fudd but the only time I caught a portion of college gameday Digger was leading the charge of the company card, "well, he's scoring like this because of who he is playing" even though at that point BYU was #1 in the RPI. His opinion may have changed but I still thought that was silly to claim byu's schedule was soft with a #1 RPI.

The minute Ohio State loses a game, The Jimmer will be a shoo-in. Too bad that the Big 10 is so bad this year. (I think OSU had the 50th ranked sched despite playing the front end of their conference already)

Van Pelt has loved the Jimmer for most of the year. I think it was when he interviewed him the first time on SportsCenter. You spend 3 minutes on the phone with the Jimmer and you're just a better person because of it. ;)



Bilas was not only complimentary of Jimmer but said Emery is underrated and has also said some nice things about Davies. I think Bilas actually likes BYU this year.
