Mike Loyd

I was impressed with Mike Loyd the chances he got. But something didn't fit right when he would come in and tear it up. Here are his numbers this year at Mid-Western State Univ in TX.



Games played: 20 Rebounds/game: 3.1

Points/game: 12.0 Assists/game: 3.1

FG Pct: 40.6 Turnovers/game: 2.7

3FG Pct: 36.1 Assist/turnover ratio: 1.2

FT Pct: 73.3 Steals/game: 0.9

Blocks/game: 0.2

Averaging 23 min game

The guy played better for us off the bench. Seems like Rose knew what he was doing. Or perhaps Rose is a better coach. Or perhaps teams didn't get to scout him when he played for us so he was the 'secret weapon' they couldn't plan for. I wish Mike Loyd the best, and wish he could have done better for himself here, but he is not the answer to our lack of depth.



Poor asst/TO ratio.

3s mediocre but acceptable.



Most games he shoots poorly. He has only 5 games this year which he shot 50% or better which raised up his % so the average could make 40. But 15 games he shot worse.



Just thot people might like to know.

Mike made a huge difference for BYU last year, what point are you trying to make?

that he is being used poorly on his new team, that coach Rose is a better coach than what he has now...that's all. Why so defensive, Mike?

haha, so now I'm Mike? I'm just not sure what posting a players stats, and then commenting on how he isn't doing well, is supposed to accomplish. I thought he made a huge difference last year, when given the chance, and am sad he is gone.

We possibly do not win our 1st round game against florida last year without Mike. He took over down the stretch when others were running out of gas. He was very situationally effective.

I think that was the point of the original post except he doesn't think he would help us now, which I disagree with.

That is an understatement. I would say we most likely don't win without him. whatever the stats say, we would be better with him.

Do we pick up Carino if Loyd had stayed?

It could be that he was a better fit in our offense. With his speed he was perfect in our up tempo offense with lots of openings for him.
