Cougarfan87Boy, I had no idea I had a source in the BYU football program until this last week. Just wanted to squash the rumor on Detmer. He never interviewed with any coaches--since they were all out of town.
Also, Bronco and the other coaches (except maybe Doman) were hoping Nelson would be the starter because Heaps came in believing his own hype. Apparently, after the 1-5 start, he was humbled. That is when things started getting better for him--and the schedule happened to get a heck of a lot easier too.
As for Chambers, it is not one event that led to his removal from the team. Apparently it was attitude issues in general--such as not having a filter and having to say everything on his mind. To his credit, he is redshirting this next year and sticking with the program.
As for the Anae situation, communication had completely broken down on the offensive staff. Apparently, Anae wasn't the only one at fault, and Bronco did not necessarily want him to leave when the whole offensive staff had to reapply for their jobs. I think it was a tool used by Bronco to get them on the same page and communicating. But, I think Anae saw the writing on the wall. The offensive staff was just not communicating well together--I am sure the pressure of the two QB situation, the losses, etc. took its toll on the offensive staff.
My source was pretty excited about Ben Cahoon's hire and expects the offensive staff to be much more unified this next year.
Sorry, that is all I could glean. My source is pretty good at stonewalling me and making me draw information out bit by bit.
