This talk by Elder Oaks is enlightening. I heard about 2 to 3 minutes of Elder Oaks' interview by a talk show host which prompted me to this speech.



The loss of religious freedom is tragic around the world, but especially tragic in teh U.S. where we have historically championed the religious rights of our citizens.

Thanks for sharing. This is good stuff. It makes me think maybe I should act on my love of Constitutional law.

Our ward mission leader and member of my High Preist group is a succesful attorney and is (or was) the head of the J. Reuben Clark law society of Orange County. he represents the LDS church on a local consortium of attorneys focusing on religious freedom. When that group read Elder Oaks' address on the same topic given at BYU-I, they asked if it would be possible to have him come to Orange County. Turns out our guy had Elder Oaks as a law professor way back when, so he 'had his people contact their poeople" and worked it out. Our guy picked the Oaks' up at the airport and spent three days with him pretty much 24/7 and attended the aformentioned radio interview and an interview with the very liberal LA Times.

The following Sunday our entire High Preist Group meeting was a personall acount of the three days. Very enlightening!
