Missions: KC and Davies??

KC would probably start at point next year, he'd help bridge the gap to Carlino and Winder as well as get to play with his brother as well. If he goes on a mission he likely red-shirts upon return and probably misses out on playing with CC altogether, unless CC's rehab takes him longer than expected and he misses next year too. So what are the odds KC stays?? You could pull Zylstra's or Martineau's schollie to make room. He could also go on a mission the following year. Just something to think about.



And what about Davies, any mission plans in his future??

KC is planning on a mission, Davies is not.

Davies has a real serious girlfriend (who plays college voleyball at ASU I think) but he's still a baby (dont' think he's even 20 yet)

Is Martineau on schollie?

Davies was only 17 when he started school last year. I'm not even sure he's 19 yet. If he is, it's very recent. That would be really hard to go after 2 years in college. I know for awhile he was considering going, but obviously he isn't going now.



Martineau is on schollie. Doesn't Zylstra graduate this year? I know he was a transfer, and this is his 2nd year in the program.

This is Zylstra's third year. He RS'd pre-mission.

I know it's football signing day, but just had to post this blurb on my great nephew (in more ways than one). Dantley Walker plays for Lincoln County high school in Panaca, NV (2A), but this kid is one skilled player, but only 5' 11". Still he has broken about ever Nevada scoring record there is. Here is the report on his game last night. BYU, Utah, Utah State, and others are looking at Dantley, so far no offers.

Lincoln County senior Dantley Walker scored 73 points Tuesday to set a Nevada single-game scoring record and lead the Lynx to a 101-86 win over visiting Agassi Prep.



According to the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association record book, Walker’s mark topped the previous record of 70 points scored by Jim Summers of Douglas in 1952.



Walker hit 10 3-pointers, and also contributed seven rebounds and seven assists.



It was Walker’s third game with at least 62 points this season. He had 64 on Jan. 22, allowing him to top the state’s all-time career scoring mark previously held by Luke Babbitt of Galena. Walker currently has 3,102 career points.

I saw something about him a little while ago, maybe it was even yesterday.



73 points in high school? Holy cow. 4 8-minute quarters. Thats over 2 points a minute folks.

13 scholarships (unless you're USC)



Austin and Harward are back next season and Magnusson, Emery, Fredette leave, along with KC on his mission. Adding Carlino and Harrison to the fold and you're even, unless Coach Rose decides to let Zylstra and/or Martineau know that they've gotten enough free education and that as hot as the Cougs are right now, they can't pass on Walker. Bottom line, Zylstra and Martineau would make really good D2 players but aren't top 20 program players.



Ask them to pay their way for 1 year and bring Walker in, then next year they can concentrate on recruiting the Jordans (Loveridge and Chatman) and still let Martineau and Zylstra finish their playing careers with schollies.

Anyone remember Dajuan Wagner? He was a very prolific scorer in high school as well. He even scored 100 points in a game once. He was/is the all-time leading high school scorer in New Jersey. Let's not get too excited about this kid just yet.

Wagner had serious health problems that derailed his career. As I recall he had kidney and heart problems. He would have had a real chance in the NBA. In any case his talent would have been at an elite talent in college.

Wagner made the NBA and was a stud in college. If we could get anything close to Dujuan Wagner for 4 years Dave Rose would take that in a heartbeat.



Hell, I'd take Wink Adams in a heartbeat.



Less than 1/2 of 1% make in from college in the NBA. If any player BYU recruits becomes even considered for the NBA that was a tremendous scholarship offer.



Wagner played in the NBA, Plaisted didn't, Cummard didn't, Keena Young didn't JT didn't... etc. etc. etc.

I'd say that he would be at least as valuable to the team as Mike Rose was. Mike had some other weaknesses, but was a scoring sparkplug, which made him very valuable at times.

Franchuk has reported that he plans on a mission before playing... so he's ours to lose (if Rose thinks he can do it at the highest level) because it doesn't affect our scholarship situation.
