How bad do we miss Chris Collinsworth?

Has C. Collinsworth's injury hurt the cougars this year?

I think BYU has missed a second legit scoring option in Mike Lloyd more.



But I'm sure a healthy Chris C. would have helped at some point.

We've missed his toughness and rebounds, but I don't know if he would have made a difference against UNM. I don't think he would have closed out any quicker on shooters than Noah did.

We don't miss Collinsworth cause we never really had him, however we miss having a deep bench, and Loyd was a big difference maker off the bench last year.

We miss him and Lloyd bad. If we had both of them, we would be undefeated.

Man, I forgot all about Lloyd! Yeah I am very confident we'd be undefeated too because right now we truly are only about 6 deep and that will be very tough in the 2nd round of the tourney on only 1 day's rest. Hopefully we can rout our first opponent and get the guys some rest before the Saturday game.

I don't believe this. Losses happen in college basketball. Teams don't go undefeated. Good teams lose to good teams all the time on the road. Good teams even lose to bad teams on the road.

kitic, I also question whether byu would be interested if we had cc and mlj. But, it sure would have been nice to have a scoring threat on the floor and jimmer resting on the bench last sat. IIRC, lloyd was the difference against unlv last year in the marriott center.

I do think BYU would be a better team if we both Loyd and Chris. Most teams are better when they have more talent.

absolutely they are and if you look at our losses, if you add those two, they probably are not losses. Just my opinion.



Jimmer was sick and didn't have the gass towards the end of the new mexico game. Having Lloyd in there backing him up would have given him more rest and made the difference in my opinion.



Having those two makes this team a little better. I don't think saying that that we win more games if we had both of them is a stretch. we have only lost two games.

There were games last season when the offense performed better with Lloyd in there--I have no doubt that we'd be undefeated if he were still around. Jimmer, essentially, can't sit against anyone unless we have a huge lead.

I think the biggest point made is how tired the Cougars were toward the end of the game - all of them. One more strong body could have made a tremendous difference down the stretch, and Collinsworth could be that man.

Totally agree.



If we had Lloyd, though, I'm pretty sure Jimmer wouldn't have so many 40 pt games this season and wouldn't be in the lead for POY. I'd take Ws over 40 pt games by Jimmer, though.



Two losses isn't bad and who's to say if we had Lloyd we'd have zero losses. We may very well have four losses because teams would have played us differently. Jimmer would have played differently.



The lack of depth on the bench though will certainly haunt us. It clearly was a factor against UNM and I'm sure it will show itself again.

Mike said several times HE didn't want to leave, never asked to leave. It was Rose that let him go.

And Mike several times didn't do what he needed to do to stay on the team. He wasn't taking care of business on his end. He was on his way to be ineligible both academically and honor code-ily. Mike may have wanted to stay, he may have said he wanted to stay, but his actions were not saying that.

Loyd had 3 or 4 good games last year. He wasn't even the back-up to Jimmer most of the year. There's a reason why he's no longer on the team.



Collinsworth would improve the front court depth more and would help on the defensive boards.



The person we really miss this year though is Haws. I would take Haws over Loyd. We talk about Loyd a little more because he left the team, and not to go on a mission, but Haws was a great mid-range shooter, at least as good as Jimmer at FT's and was a good defender. Can't fault the kid for going on a mission though.



If both Haws and Collinsworth were available, Jimmer, Jackson, Charles, Haws and KC would rotate the back-court, and Davies, Hartsock, Collinsworth, and Anderson would rotate up front.

Plus 1. Lloyd leaving hurt BYU and Lloyd. He is averaging 12 points for a DII school. He could have been averaging 12 points for a final four team and Jimmer could have been getting a little rest here and there as could Jackson.



But CC would give us more depth to fight foul trouble situations.
