Versus Curse

"Overall, BYU is 8-12 when playing on Versus (in FB and Men's BB) since the station started broadcasting at the beginning of the 2006 football season, and is on a 9-game losing streak since beating UCLA 59-0 in football in Sept. 2008.



Men's basketball is 2-6 (.250) lifetime on Versus, and on a 5-game losing streak (predating the beatdown). By contrast, Dave Rose is 127-33 (.794) since Versus has been around, so 18% of his losses and only 1.6% of his wins have come on the 5% of games that have been shown on Versus.



Football is 6-6 (.500) on Versus, and on a 4-game losing streak since the beatdown. By contrast, Bronco Mendenhall is 50-15 (.769) since Versus came into being, so 40% of his losses and only 12% of his wins have come on the 18% of games shown on Versus."

Should I be worried about next weekend?

I have not researched this, but could it be that the MWC / MTN only kicks our big-time opponent games over to Versus? If so, our winning percentage has always been below avg in those type of games- the same problem all teams have - SOS / loc.

Next basketball game on Versus is the home game vs UNLV - so that streak should come to end. But some of the MWC Tourney is on Versus. So at most we have four games left on Versus.



We have no football games remaining on Versus.

Totally was thinking the same thing today in church... We always lose on Versus, and yes I think it's because it's the bigger games. We always play TCU on Versus I think because they don't get the mtn on local cable there in Fort worth and Versus supposedly reaches more people...



However, wasn't our 59-0 drubbing of UCLA on Versus? Also when we beat TCU at fort worth when they were highly ranked a few years back. Somebody correct me if i'm wrong



But yes for the most part, we always lose on versus. I hate that channel. NHL, hunting, PBR, NFR, and a smattering of MWC sports. Gay.



Can't wait to be independent, Then I can drop Directv like it's hot.





Looks like espn is slowly being able to be streamed as well, only for Time warner subscribers though. Verizon is coming soon it says. One step closer to no more cable/satelite for me.

I think it has more to do with Versus picking up "bigger" games than Versus itself.

This makes more sense if it's understood that I thought the next Versus game was the Saturday game. :blush:
