Bracketology Matrix

This is a compilation of most of the bracket predictions out there (49 at this time). It updates daily as the brackets are updated.



BYU is showing up anywhere between a 1 and a 5 seed and it makes them the first 3 seed according to the matrix. If they don't lose the rest of the year, look for them to be the 2 seed in the Anaheim bracket playing first round in Denver. If they somehow make it to a 1, they would still start in Denver, but would might get kicked to New Orleans for the regional. I guess that depends on who the seeds are.



SDSU is anywhere between a 1 (date of that bracket is before the game on Wednesday) and 8. They are still a 2 seed according to the matrix as it stands right now.



UNLV is still in all 49 brackets and average out to an 8 seed.



CSU shows up on 6 brackets, but are not currently included in the top 68.



Utah State shows up as a 10 seed (average of an 11 seed) and are shown on 48 of the 49 brackets. If they go in as a 10 or 11 seed, they will make it to the 2nd round, and maybe the 2nd week.

I don't get how we can #1 in the RPI, but then listed as a 5-seed per the RPI.

Because humans really think the computers are full of it. Now apply that to the BCS!

This may sound crazy, but I usually prefer being the underdog. A loss is expected and the players are out to prove they belong. I get especially nervous after watching the SDSU vs BYU game. The only players unaffected, offensively speaking, were Jimmer and Brandon Davies. The rest choked under the pressure. Granted, Emery's defense was exceptional, but to advance in the BIG tournament, there has to be more offense than just Jimmer. I'm not convinced that the rest of the team can calm the nerves enough to simply play ball. Especially when you have a target on your back..........

I'd rather be a 1-3 seed with a target than a 7-10 seed playing the underdog role.

And hope that Jimmer doesn't have an off night. If he does, it's one and out. No one else can contribute significantly for a win....There are a whole lot of 3-4 seeds that get beat early.

A whole lot of 3-4 seeds don't get beat in the first round. We do have guys who "can contribute significantly for a win." Emery, Davies and Hartsock have all had 20 point games this year. Even guys like Abouo, Rogers and Kyle Collinsworth have that ability as well.



We are NOT a one-man team that can't win if that ONE player has an off game.

Take a look at the dates of the various brackets found in the "matrix." OVer twenty of them are dated pre BYU SDSU. The results are skewed now, but should be more informative Monday night after the predicted brackets are updated. Expect substantial improvement unless something unexpected happens in NM.

SNOT=school north of town. A much kinder term than the other U word. ;)
