Jimmer to become all time BYU scorer?

At the beginning of the season, I would have said no way Jimmer could overtake Ainge for most points scored. But with a likely 15 games remaining (10 reg. season, 3 MWC tourney, 2+ NCAA tourney), and only 360 points to go, Jimmer would only have to average 24 a game to overtake Danny. I'd love to see it.

3. Devin Durrant (1978-80, 82-84) - 2285

4. Jimmer Fredette (2007-present) - 2107 (as of 1/27/11)

Jimmer should pass up Devin tomorrow, and Michael but the next game. I don't see a problem with him passing up Ainge soon.

Jimmer is beyond Chuck Norris. Superman is intimidated by Jimmer. The Lord consulted heavily with Jimmer about the creation.



Jimmer is just holding back. If he just let go one night, 50 points would be unseeable in the rear view mirror, even with the help of the Hubble Telescope.



SDSU singled teamed him and he still scored. They doubled beamed him and he still scored at will. They tripled teamed him and the basket only got bigger. They eventually asked the whole MC to team him, 22705 teamed him and he laughed and scored anyway.

It's still a tall order because that calculation is based on pretty much most of everything going right at the end of the year to take the MWC tournament. I have less doubt that we'll have an issue going into the second round of the NCAA, so 2 games there is not much of a stretch, but it's always a challenge in the tournament when you have those that are fighting for their lives vs those that are just fighting for seeding. Historically, the former seems to give one more determination and thus more potential for upsets.

Things going wrong could actually help his chances. The worse things go, the better Jimmer gets. Luckily, I don't think that things are going to go bad. This is a good team. I think they will do very well the rest of the rear, and Jimmer has a good chance of eclipsing the record.

Let's also remember that so far in MWC play (now that we're almost 1/2 way through the MWC season) Fredette is averaging 35.6 ppg. If he keeps that up for the rest of conference play he'll have 2464 that's 3 behind Ainge.

Jimmer told me he was going to score a point next game for every BYU fan in the MC the other night. Looks like he'll double up the scoring record tomorrow.
