Rose for MWC COY

Lots of basketball yet to play, but Dave Rose outcoached Steve Fisher last night.



Any chance the MWC would crown both Jimmer (supposedly the best player in the conference) & Rose this year, or do they say Rose had Jimmer so someone else deserves COY?

Absolutely. Of course it'll be hard to argue the mwc give up COY and POY to the same school. It wouldn't be difficult if it was anyone else but BYU? I'd take great pleasure/closure to that happening.

well, that innane logic does exist out there that the PoY ought to be on the "best team of the year"--so, stupider things have been established as precedent.

Funny if he was given National CoY and not MWC CoY.

How can they not give it to him if BYU wins the regular season title?



And if BYU goes undefeated, it should be an unanimous choice at that.

There aren't any new comers this season that have dramatically turned around a program.



Should BYU make a deep run into the Tourney, further than SDSU then Rose better be coach of the year.



How ironic would that be. Rose and Jimmer get COY and POY and then BYU leaves the MWC. HAHAHAHA!

they win the tourney, than yes. If someone else wins it, he gets CoY in the MWC.



Don't put it past the future Mountain Worst to look for opportunities to screw BYU out of what it has earned/deserves.

I'll tell you what, if Boylen can get Utah to finish #3 in the conference, then Boylen may well deserve some consideration.



And, I wouldn't be surprised to see Utah give SDSU a run for their money in San Diego. They're better than they were when they played on the hill and were in the game until late.

I would say Rose does deserve it but if BYU does win the conference the MWC will probably give it to CSU if they finish at least 3rd, absolutely will give it to them if they take 2nd. Remember SDSU won 25 games last year and also won the conference tourney, so a bigger turn around for CSU.

Agreed. CSU gets it for 1) exceeding expectations 2) Not leaving the conference next season and 3) not being the only team called BYU to be leaving the conference next season



Jimmer miiiiiight get it as a preemptive move just in case he gets national POY and because he's generating a lot of buzz that would turn nasty against the MWC if he didn't get it, but I don't think Rose will ever get a sniff unless he starts getting lots of live interviews on sportscenter

Steve Fisher will get coach of the year in the MWC unless Rose starts to get alot of media attention as a national coach of the year candidate. BYU gets shut out of the post season awards this year unless the nation is watching. The only reason that Jimmer will get player of the year is because of the national attention.

don't forget that the mwc is awful fond of having BYU guys share the award as well.

I will agree that SDSU is playing great and Fisher should be in the running but I will stand by what I mentioned earlier, if CSU finishes 2nd then Tim Miles will get it, if they finish 3rd he still may get it but Fisher may take it then.



My vote though is absolutely Rose.

SDSU returned all five starters. BYU lost two starters and their 6th man.

I don't want Rose getting any awards. I want him to continue to fly under the radar. I want him at byu. the only drawback to a successful season and deep run in the ncaa tournament would be rose leaving for greener pastures.

I don't think he is going anywhere, except possibly Houston, and I doubt that at this point. I think both Rose and Bronco are a lot like Lavell in that way.

If BYU goes deep into the Big Dance and any other MWC teams bow out early, the MWC will look like fools if Rose didn't get it.





Wait, we are talking about the MWC. He won't even get it then since the MWC officials aren't even up to the evolutionary stage of being a fool.

If Jimmer continues to score at a 38 clip, he may get both awards, plus defensive POY, given that the best defense is a good offense. :lol: 8)
