A once in a lifetime joy

Is this fun or what?!? I wish I could bottle this. What a game; what a season; what a player

Unbelievable. I don't care whether Jimmer makes it in the NBA or not. This season has been magic. What a game, what a night, what a performance!



If I could have just one more wish it would be to beat SDSU on the road ... talk about epic ... Jimmer scores 50 and we beat them by double digits.

It was a great game. I'm glad we won. I don't want to go to bed and it's after midnight here.

Anderson and Abuou had outstanding games off the bench. I didn't see that coming.

Emery pulled a scoring vanishing act tonight, but on Defense... wow. If you want to see what Emery did to Gay look at his line. 0/7 FGs, 0/5 3pters. 2 FTs. This is the guy who hit 30 points a few times in the lsat month

Man oh man, abouo played GREAT. His rebounding was awesome. WHat a relief to see him finally step up and play like that. WE all know he hasn't been hitting his potential this year.

I am still on this high. Will be for a while. I just loved that team defense. It was a thing of beauty. Too many people on the chat boards are saying that we will live and die by the three, but if that were the case, we would have died last night when Jimmer was the only one who could make a three. We played a complete game defensively and Jimmer showed he could score from anywhere. Absolutely loved it!

OK, so my wife is sick, so I'm downstairs watching the game and going crazy. When the game was over, I should have gone right to bed, but just had to stay up for a while longer and watch Sports Center, etc. (I didn't get a chance to see the guy on CBSC eat crow after guaranteeing that SDSU would win, both before the game and at halftime - did anyone see him do that?).



I finally got to bed a little after midnight, but still couldn't sleep. The phone rings at 1:30, and it's my son telling me they have our 3-year-old grandson at the hospital where he's receiving IV fluids, and being checked out for severe illness. I had to bite my tongue not to talk about the game. Where are my priorities?

I told my son at the MC when we were ahead 6 toward the end. "Enjoy this game and moment--you won't see a game like this maybe ever.

Kind of hard to compare two guys from different era's. I guess the real test will be in March to see how well they do in the tournament.

I was at BYU during the Ainge years. Although the Marriott center wasn't alway sold out, we had great crowds. I think you are correct that Jimmer has a bigger "fan frenzy" but twitter and other media wasn't around either. Jimmer may not top Ainge's career scoring totals, and Ainge did it without the benefit of 3 point shots. Emery finally topped Ainges steal record, but it has taken 2 players to beat (or come close to beating) those 2 records for Ainge.



All of that being said however, This is indeed a once in a lifetime joy.

I was at BYU during the Ainge years as well. He was really big, and was named POY for the year. However, I don't think he had the opportunity to get the kind of hype we're seeing for Jimmer. I often wonder how he would have done with the shot clock and three-point line.



I'll never tire of seeing the replays of Ainge driving the length of the court, around 4 defenders, and over the last defender to score the winning basket against Notre Dame to get BYU to the Elite 8.

It's 1 PM in the afternoon and I still haven't come back to earth. The euphoria from this game is almost like nothing I have ever faced before. This was a unique event in the BYU sports history and I like it.

I would think they are both fairly similar to this point. If Jimmer keeps scoring at a high clip; and if he breaks Ainge's record for points; and if Jimer does something spectacular in the NCAA Tourney; and if he is awarded player of the year; it would seem on paper that he equaled Ainge--and will for sure have his jersey retired--but throw in modern-day tech and media and the Jimmer-mania takes this amazing play to very "high heights"
