Recruiting Rankings

UW has landed the #1 recruit in Hawaii and stolen a QB recruit from the Utes. My Ute friend tells me Steve Sarkisian's wife has some ties to Hawaii. I could not find that documented anywhere. Sark did recruit polys at USC and now at UW.



UW has a recruiting class ranked Top 20 now. Utah slipped to low 50s after losing the QB to UW. BYU is ranked high 50s. It is nice to see the gap that existed between the Ute class and BYU narrow, but I would rather have seen it narrow by BYU stealing recruits from UW and rising higher.



We have a pretty solid class, but we may lose our JC DB class member to academic issues. Has anyone heard final word on that rumor.

meh, UW is a pac-10 school, right? They'll eventually see the light and transfer. ;)

We anticipate we'll sign all top athletes from Utah and the Wasatch front. We expect to compete with other schools in the PAC-12 and steal the athletes they were hoping to sign. We expect a BONANZA of great football players beating a path to our door - now that we have escaped from the lowly MWC and are now very special - we are PAC-12!!!!!

BYU's ranking is skewed by the fact that they are not signing a full class this year.

So add in the RMs and what do you get for the recruiting class?

That's one way to look at it, if you insist.



Here is another way to look at it. The Hawaii culture is very unique. You often hear the comment "It is a small island". Translation: everyone knows everyone. There are unique characteristics of population segments and communities. If you have a tie to Hawaii or are married to one, it can give you a road map and a door opener.



Sarks wife is Asian. More than half the people in Hawaii are. Darker skin or dark eyes can offset some issues a blue eyed Caucasian might gave in certain important parts of Hawaii.



In any event, it is working for Sark. Go pull a player roster. Count the Polys. You will find nearly thirty.



UW just stole a **** RB from WSU. They landed the top 5 locals and fans are still miffed that they only got 4 of top 5 locals last year. BYU got the one they really wanted in 2010 in Jake Heaps.



Someone pointed out again that our class ranking is hurt by being small. That is true. It is hurt more by having a total absence of ***** and one or zero **** and a shortage of DBs.



We need to strengthen our ties to Hawaii even I'd it takes utilizing connections of a spouse.



One last quote to ponder - it us not what you know but who you know that counts - especially in Hawaii.

They got counted when they were recruited. It would be double counting to add them in when they come back unless we also subtract out who is leaving for a mission.
