Ever since Ohio State became a title contender overnight (what was it, around '06?), I knew that. Yes, they're NOW that good, but I have a hard time believing that a team who hadn't won their conference since the 40's or somethin' just magically gets that good. Some of the money that "isn't" being paid to their football team "isn't" also making its way into the hands of a lot of one-and-done-ers.



And additionally, the old dude's name is Digger Phelps, and whaddaya know? He's got some history with a certain "team that's (apparently NOT) playing for the national championship." Do you remember the fullcourt drive and score by a certain BYU standout named Danny? Yeah, that was against Digger's Notre Dame team, in what was arguably his only team that WOULD HAVE BEEN capable of...how did he put it? Oh yeah, "playing for the national championship."



He's always sour-grapes'd BYU. Not surprising.

Just makes him look like an even bigger loser. In an attempt to start a debate ESPN was probably scrambling to find the one person not in awe of Jimmer and Digger was the only one they could. ESPN should just give it up and get behind Jimmer. Scrape the attempts at a debate and jump full-board onto the Jimmer train.

OSU became a title contender about the same time Thad Motta left Cincy for the Buckeyes.

The good news is there are more and more getting on the jimmer train. And I always like some spurning to spur on continued great performances. I'm not sure Jimmer would be motivated by Digger. But Jimmer does follow the national debate.

Maybe Digger is jealous that a danny Ainge-like guy who has a "cooler" name/handle than he does and he doesnt want too share the stage.
